Villa are going to West Ham on Sunday.
As we come to the end of another thrilling week, we can look back at all the interesting things we’ve done and were we’ve been. Switzerland for example, a country known for money-laundering, people trafficking and hoarding Nazi gold. These things make it a haven for international criminals. West Ham’s owners would feel right at home there.
Not that we’re accusing them of being criminals, oh no. They’ve never been convicted and have lots of totally upright and moral business activities. Everything they do in these is scrupulous and above board. They’ve also managed to get West Ham a new ground on very advantageous terms, which is more than they did at their previous club. Their supporters love the new surroundings.
And now they’re due to host the all-conquering Aston Villa. It’s not just the ground that’s changed about the ‘Appy ‘Ammers; they once had four managers over a period of 57 years, during which time they won the FA Cup twice, the Cup-Winners Cup (an old competition that was scrapped because Uefa got fed up waiting for us to qualify), the World Cup and World War Two. So far in 2025 they’ve had three.
At the moment they’ve got that bloke who used to be at Wolves and did well with them, aided by owners and an agent who took rule-stretching to the limits when nobody could be arsed to check. Since they got rid of him he’s been sacked by Spurs, Al-Ittihad and Forest. They way he’s started at West Ham he probably shouldn’t be be buying a long-term bus pass but he does have an annoying good record against Unai, or at least he did have until Sunday. They’ve also got a couple of players we might fancy having a look at for when they get relegated.
Our team will probably be somewhere between last Saturday’s and the one in midweek. Not only is Unai a tactical genius he’s rotating the squad perfectly, picking teams to do just enough to win. While grinding Sullivan and Brady’s noses into the dirt of a ten-goal defeat would be good, it’s more likely to be yet another routine victory.
