Looking round wondering what to do with yourself.
With absolutely nothing worth talking about with regards to the only football club worth talking about, let’s look around for something else that’s happening. And to nobody’s surprise the introduction of that automated offside idea in the league has been put back because it doesn’t work properly, and because Preston haven’t got the technology it won’t be used in our FA Cup quarter-final either.
A couple more clubs have said they won’t be increasing season ticket prices for next season. Villa haven’t said a word yet.
Our bid for world retail domination continues with the opening of an outlet store in the Holte shop. We’ll be the next Sports Division at this rate.
Because it’s an international week there’s a link for a Villa player to a Big Club. This time it’s Lamare Bogarde and Ajax, and he says he’s happy at Villa for the moment, which Birmingham Live will translate into a transfer request before the month’s out.
The non-internationals in the squad fly out for a holiday in Dubai, or for hot weather training if you prefer. There’s also a match against UAE side Al Ain. Just for a change we let them score first before Marco Asensio, Alex Disasi and young whippersnapper Kane Taylor all score.
The England team for the crunch match with Albania is announced, with Ezri Konsa and Marcus Rashford starting with Morgan Rogers coming on in the second half. Konsa is the undoubted man of the match while Rashford and Rogers didn’t do too badly either, as the team win 2-0 in a game that was about as interesting as it sounds. Elsewhere John McGinn stars for Scotland when they win 1-0 in a play-off in Greece before losing 3-0 in the return leg at Hampden, which is about as Scotland as it gets. Youri Tielemans did well for Belgium and did even better for us by getting booked and therefore suspended for their next match. The first lot of matches are over and nothing bad’s happened so far.
And with nothing else happening, a quick look at the transfer speculation has us linked with some bloke called Rashford for £40 million in the summer for £40 million, and if we don’t sign him Jack Grealish will apparently be leaving Manchester City, and we all know what that means.
The women’s team has lost again, 4-0 at home to Manchester United. And on a happier note Tyrone Mings has been named on the Euro 2028 board of directors to help oversee the tournament. If that doesn’t get Witton station sorted and a New North Stand, nothing will.
It won’t be long before proper football’s back.
