Next 5 games
« on: April 10, 2025, 01:14:47 PM »
I was thinking earlier how in the next 16 days we could find ourselves in the CL semis, FAC final and sat 4th in the table looking set for another season of CL football. Or we could be out of both cups and sat 9th all but out the CL race. Which is pretty new for us to be in what feels like 'shit or bust' in 2 weeks covering 3 competitions. It's way better than the days of hoping Wigan lose but not sure it's good for our BP given the ages a lot of us are.

12th A Saints
15th H PSG
19th H Newcastle
22nd A ManC
26th Palace SF

Really looks like a big ask. I'd expect loads of changes against Southampton with the second leg in mind. The likes of Garcia and Malen coming in should be good enough for the win. But 3 games in a week against PSG, Newcastle and Man City is tough in anyone's book. Really not sure of the best approach because we need our best players fresh and ready to go at Wembley, which for me is the biggest game of the lot.

I know

But if we go 5 at the back we may do enough to be 4th, although with GD being worth a point it will be tough.

I'll add that it isn't meant as a prediction thread for the games, more about the fun/stress of being in this situation.

It's fine, PWS. I'll go with a symmetrical WDWDW.

We could celebrate by eating a Bacon sandwich with butter on the bread.

I pretty much stated the same to someone at work yesterday, by the end of April our season could be great or peetered out.

Agreed.

12th A Saints - Chance to do some work on our goal tally. Expect another 8 changes. No excuses. (W)
15th H PSG - Free hit. It would be great to put in a top performance, let's see where that takes us. (D)
19th H Newcastle - This is the game that will define whether we hit the top 5 or not. Must win. (W)
22nd A ManC - I'd go for an away win but looking at our previous fixtures since Preston, the lads even with rotation must be knackered. A point is okay. (D)
26th Palace SF - Time to take our anger out on somebody with a real quality performance. (W)

After that we have an easier run in with at least 9 or 10 points, quite possibly 12 from the 4 games.
