what a magnificent result. So many good things about the performance and individuals. I'm going to watch it again without my arse clenched later so I can appreciate it more. Just a shame Forest, Newcastle and Man City all won as those are the clubs, certainly the latter two that we are after for 4th or 5th.
I think we need to overcome Chelsea and Newcastle realistically to get 5th and see where that takes us.

Not a great performance but the January signings nicely stepped up in the month we need them to and we were ultra clinical.

What is more important as we're getting the knack of keeping clean sheets and resilience as we need that to have any chance of success in at least one of the competitions we remain.

Think we can win our next two and the table looks good again and we can afford to drop points against Newcastle and Man. City before the final four games.

Is that the same Newcastle that is 2pts ahead of us with a game in hand (And has a not too bad run in)

Strange game really. Not at our best again but once we got the second we saw it out really well. Options off bench are huge at this stage of the season. Emery's big decision to start Rashford up top was justified with the goal. There was an inevitability that we would get the job done in the second half once we went ahead. I guess last two seasons we finished very strong under Emery and look set for another run at it again. Brighton did play well for a lot of the game but ran out of ideas a long way before the end.

Martinez 6 - very fortunate to get away with two clangers, distribution was good though
Cash 6 - went asleep for that chance in first half in first half, did well to get back mind. Distribution mixed as ever but his ball down the line was key to the second goal
Konsa 6 - poor first half. improved in second once Joao Pedro went off. Struggled with their press
Torres 6 - bailed out Konsa early on. Distribution a bit suspect at times but maybe to be expected. 100+ minutes under his belt and a clean sheet.
Digne 8 - just thought he was really solid on a night when many were a bit off. Some transformation from his struggles under Gerrard
Kamara 7 - struggled with their press in the first half but improved as the game went on and a very solid second half
Tielemans 5 - bit of an off night, struggled with their intensity in midfield and no surprise was replaced early
Rogers 4 - out of position again on the right, didnt help Cash all that much, assist tab keeps increasing though
Ramsey 6 - bit of a surprising sub I thought. Not great by any stretch but excellent footwork for what should have been a penalty first half.
McGinn 7 - struggled in that 10 role, not sure of Emery's logic there with the positioning of McGinn/Rogers - but transformed back on left for last 30 mins or so where he utterly bullied their right back
Rashford 7 - outstanding footwork for his chance in first half but poor finish, not the cleanest finish ever for his goal but up and running now for us

Watkins worked very hard I thought when he came in, Asensio's goal was just elite really as was Malen's at the end. Onana and Disasi did ok too.

Win more important than the performance. Clean sheet is brilliant. Officials dodgy once again.

My only annoyance is the number of our players that flop pleading with the ref for a freekick that never comes. You're no use to the team on the ground, so stay on your feet and help defend - yes Matty I'm looking at you (and a few others).

If we had any ambition we'd have got Borja Bastón back.

Rarely troubled, but could have been very different if that handball hadn't been given, yes, we should have had a penalty but that was gone by then.  Really happy for Malen, he's had to be patient with the little game time he's had so far and you could see how keen he was for a goal and how much it meant for him after the game.  Boubakamara the calmest man in town, as usual.  McGinn ran himself into the ground, along with Digne.  Watkins looks all at sea, the only real concern for me in this run in, his thought process looks all to shit, sad times.
A performance that harks back to last season where we built upon defensive solidity and used the pace and ability of our incredibly versatile attacking players to nail a win.  Gives me a lot of confidence for the upcoming matches.
Oh, and Rogers got 2 assists...and Asensio scored...and "he's shit for United, but he's brill for the Villa" got one as well...and a clean sheet...fuck, what a great game!

Outstanding performance against a team, who have been in top form in the league, bring on the Forest.

Especially with the luck Newcastle had for their winner.
With the squad we have now, no reason we can't win all 3, especially with 2 at home. In years gone by UTD and City away would be 0 points...not anymore UTV

Confident about Forest, Newcastle we need to beat and well, Man City ????.

The game in hand is against Palace who could do it against Newcastle as much as get beaten. I suppose it depends on how much they are looking at the SF.
