Although all the complaints about the penalty meant the the commentators "McGinn using his body then" when he arse blocks the defending player from getting anywhere near it during the build up to the penalty has been pretty much overlooked.

For all Brighton's possession they created very little. I thought we looked comfortable all match & were clinical when the chances came .

Outrageous decision from VAR not to look at the penalty, which will get lost in all the fuss about Tarkowski's challenge.

It was a definite pen.

Traky should have walked but YNWA goal was offisde. Pundits - seen em given or not.

Tarkowski practiced that tackle on Diaby last season at Goodison, and it wasn’t even considered a foul, never mind a yellow card. 2 minutes in:

That jug eared fucker should be in the same club as Ben Mee - disgraceful challenges

I always like to dip into our opponents forums to see their points of view which is usually wildly different from ours as you’d expect but there's usually some reasonable posters unless it's the Arsenal ones which can be insanely biased. Brighton's was not as rabid as some others but jeez they're biased. I couldn't find one that gave us any credit whatsoever. Their opinions of us ranged from crap to lucky to boring. The officials gave us everything and they want Palace, of all clubs, to smash us!! Fucking hell I've seen some sore losers on other clubs forums but the Brighton lot are some of the worst I've seen. We must be doing something right we seem to be gaining more and more haters. Fuck em all.

Dave put a couple of messages up from sane Brighton fans earlier. All forums are insanely biased, I doubt the reaction would be any different with pretty much any other top flight team.

Just watched a rerun of the game. Our second goal was superb. I had forgotten just how good it was. An 11 pass move went from our left back position and ended up with Asensio doing what Asensio does . Arriving at the right position at the right moment and driving Rogers pass brilliantly into the bottom corner with pinpoint accuracy. Sublime. It's a great time to be a Villa fan.

They're the same everytime we play them.

We bought on:  a Champions League winner, an England centre forward and a Champion League runner up (it could have been two if we used the customary Maatsen option). Having as talented squad as this will stand us in good stead now that the fixtures are coming thick and fast. What a January window!

I hadn't saw Daves post but it must be from a different forum to the one I read.

Because his arse was in a natural position. Just below his back and just above his legs.

I hope we sign the Brighton lad who came on as a sub, Cashin.
Purely so we can sub him on for our right back.
That's Cashin, Cash out.

Eiran Cashin, what a grand name from the old country. I wonder did he come from Tír na nÓg.

They have just suffered their heaviest home defeat of the season by far . They will be feeling sore today. Once they have had time to clam down and reflect they will accept how good we were.

Indeed, my cousin's wife's maiden name was Cashin. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was Caslin.
