Mostovoi was excellent in the game at VP.
Yep. That was the other name I couldn't remember. Outstanding.

Haim Revivo too, a playmaker who we were linked with (along with the fabled Benni McCarthy) for a long time after and whom I really wanted us to get. Valery Karpin was also really good for them. Celta became my Spanish team after the VP game, just thought they were sexy AF.

Revivo and Mostovoi were class at VP. I remember that game well.

I suspect this will be a very tricky game..they showed in the first leg, and certainly away at Atalanta, that they can be very dangerous. Obviously we can be too.

It'll be interesting to see how Emery decides to play this one. Will he be cautious and defence minded, or decide to attack? We've seen a few times what we're like in an end-to-end battle, it's fun to watch but it's nerve-wracking too!

A young Michel Salgado at full-back too.

Yep, they beat Liverpool in both legs in the next round too.

I know some people are dead against emotional hedge betting, but you can get 18-1 on Bruges staging a come back. That’s worth a tenner of anyone’s money.

Yeah that's to win the tie, but if they score first it's came on.

Bailey seems to lack confidence to push up the wing fully. He cuts back so the play is entirely on front of the massed opposition defence again. If he pushed on a bit further, he might just make serious inroads. At least there's a good chance he would win a throw in or corner for us and keep the ball behind their front line

2-0 BTW. Whether the local derby brawl at the weekend will spur on, dampen, or have no effect on our opposition is too hard to call

With the imminent 2 week break will Unai be tempted to rest anyone or go full strength?

I'm hopeful that by the time we wake up on Wednesday morning for the return leg of the Bruges tie, we have the carrot of a trip to the Parc des Princes dangling right in our faces after they have systematically dismantled Liverpool tomorrow night.

Also hoping we stick with the same back 4 plus an Emi return, and its a straightforward 3-0 home win for us.

We can't afford to fuck around and find out. Go strong and transition all game long, we'll burn them on the break.
