It's nothing to do with lack of songs.... It's the laboured 'pinging it along the backline' football and influx of tourist fans displacing loyal, 'priced out' fans which is the reason for the drop in atmosphere at Villa Park.

I only tend to enjoy away games these days. Villa Park is becoming more of a chore than any form of enjoyment for me. Ipswich at the weekend was terrible.

I'm sure somebody more lyrical than me could do something with this

It's times like this we need to use AI:

"Royal & Claret"
(To the tune of Paranoid by Black Sabbath)

[Verse 1]
Runnin’ down the pitch, we’re on the attack,
Claret and the blue, we ain't lookin' back.
Holte End’s roaring, hear the Lions cry,
Villa Park is pumpin’, reachin’ for the sky!

[Chorus]
Ohhh, Prince William’s in the stands,
Singin’ loud, clappin’ hands!
Future king, Villa fan,
Bleedin’ claret, that’s the plan!

[Verse 2]
1960 was our last big prize,
Now Unai’s got us set to rise!
Counter-pressin’, playin’ mean,
Douglas Luiz runnin’ the machine!

[Chorus]
Ohhh, Prince William’s in the stands,
Singin’ loud, clappin’ hands!
Future king, Villa fan,
Bleedin’ claret, that’s the plan!

[Bridge]
Jack’s gone, we don’t care,
We got Watkins tearin’ air!
McGinn’s a warrior, you can see,
And the king-to-be sings "Come on, V!"

[Verse 3]
Villa til we die, no doubt at all,
European nights, we hear the call.
Prince William’s watchin’, royal pride,
Aston Villa, side by side!

[Outro]
Ohhh, Claret Army stand up tall,
We’re the Villa, hear us call!
Prince or pauper, makes no fuss,
Because the Lions roar for us!

---

1960 was our last big prize???

If you sing it loud enough and often enough it can becomes yours, like you’ll never Walk alone became Liverpool’s
No one else sings that now but I remember the time everyone sang it

I'm led to believe YNWA was originally a Celtic song from the 50s. Just don't tell the Scousers unless you want to hear endless high pitched squeals.

I do feel a more spanish flavour could be adopted with some flag swirling and perhaps adopt one or two anthems in recognition for Emery
i’m attending myself on Saturday for Chelsea match making the journey and very excited

I do think tonight and Saturday will see a better atmosphere than Ipswich.

Flags can stay with the drums, in a locked box, in a locked garage, in a locked compound with a very big bomb and tripwires all around.

I want to see the game, hear the crowd and enjoy the game.

You can hear Villa fans singing it in the highlights of 1994 LC final

Good idea! Less VAR, more SloMo.

We certainly did and for years before. I remember the first time hearing it get broken up with clapping and speeded up half way through. Kind of lost it's magic.

Asensio now has the Coutinho song and Rashy has taken Durán's. Not very "new", admittedly. Will be awkward if Wee Phil and Asensio are both here next season. Imagine the step-overs, though.

Reduce, reuse, recycle.
