Aston Villa v Spurs (FAC4) Pre Match Thread
« on: February 04, 2025, 12:33:46 PM »
A chance to get through to the 5th round for the first time since 2015.  Disasi is cup tied but we could see other debuts.

2-1 win in 90 mins as we reap the rewards of no CL play off.

               Martinez

Garcia   Konsa   Mings   Maatsen

            Kamara    Onana

Bailey     Rogers     Rashford

            Watkins

Tielemans, Ramsey, Asensio, Malen, McGinn and Digne is some bench.

I'd give Watkins a rest for this one. Give Malen a run up top.

Somewhat dependent on mings being back but i'd give Rogers a rest and drop bailey. Would start Malen and mcginn.

Depending on Ollie's fitness I to would be tempted to give Malen the start. And I think Asensio will probably be closer to starting (instead of Bailey) than Rashford is (instead of Ramsey). But I could be wrong.

It will be a claret and blue crazy train this time Ange

Quote
Sunday's 2-0 victory at Brentford ended a seven-match winless streak in the Premier League, during which Postecoglou had bemoaned his side's bad luck with injuries.

"Every time I've seen the light at the end of the tunnel, it's usually been an oncoming train," he said.

Where is asensios best position?

He has to start and i would have malen up top with ollie on bench.

We need to go strong here. Hopefully  spurs will be tired Thursday night as that will be  a long game. Would be great if that game went ET.

Hopefully  rashford  is fit for the bench at the minimum

As I believe and dream that Emery and Villa will win a trophy this season and Considering I forecast Villa to win the FA Cup rather than the Champions League (given the difficulty of the later)
I will say victory here at 3 goals to 1

Martinez
Garcia
Konsa
Disasi
Maatsen
Kamara
McGinn
Asensio
Rogers
Rashford
Malen

Asensio, Rashford and Konsa
Son for them.

If you believe he has to start, where would you play him, and why?

Basically he's an upgrade on McGinn or Bailey. His left foot is up there with Duran and Hourihane for shooting at goal.

He'll bring better shooting ability , technics and composure on the ball. Amazing player. Footy intelligence and will be able to play football in possession for sure. Hasn't got Ginny tenacious attitude but who has!

Doesn't slip on the floor like bailey and doesn't get reckless yellow cards like McGinn.
The three of them all have their merits to play right side /attack but Asensio is the better of the 3 footballers.

Id give Rogers a rest , actually tell him to go away to somewhere warm for a few days , will do him the world of good.

Malen and Rashford to start in this , shove Bailey on the bench too .   Kamara and Onana and Youri no 10  , even thou youri needs a rest but JJ if so.

hopefully TY is fit.
