We should win this.

Generally our squad has matched up well to them since promotion. Think it's something like six wins and three draws since coming back up?

Yeah they'll get a lift from Moyes but their gameplan will still be low block and getting in crosses and set pieces. With Mings we should be o.k with that and certainly prevent a repeat of the goal we conceded at VP when Calvert Lewin just headed in unmarked in the six yard box.

Big question is who starts at CF but their backline won't fancy facing either.

1-3 win on our final trip to Goodison.

I’m surprised at some of the negativity on here to be honest

Maybe our away record?

Won   3 Drawn   1   Lost 5   Scored 11   let in 19   GD -8

Yeah it's been poor recently but we've beaten better teams than Everton away like Fulham.

A case of defend set pieces well and we should create enough to win this by two goals. For their height Digne and Onana start this I'm fairly sure.

Do Everton fans really like Moyes? They were certainly ready for a change when he left them.  He made them tough to beat but they were full to watch and if I recall were fairly happy to see him gone.
They can still extend it, doesn't necessarily mean for this match though, just when they get around to hearing it. FA website has the below against it still.

Quote
INCIDENT OUTSIDE THE JURISDICTION OF MATCH OFFICIALS BUT REPORTED TO THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (FAST TRACK) – NON-STANDARD CASE
Jhon Durán, Player, Aston Villa FC

Newcastle United FC v Aston Villa FC
Premier League
26 December 2024

Breach of FA Rule E3.1 – It is alleged that in or around the 32nd minute of the fixture, following your dismissal, you acted in an improper manner.

Mr Durán admits the Charge and elects a Paper Hearing.

I hope that any further action from the authoroties would be a fine rather than a suspension if they do decide to punish.

That would be nice but I suspect they'll go for summary execution.

We just cannot do our usual and gift them an early goal as Moyesball will be then just camp in their own half and we will frustratingly not be able to break them down.

First 15 min they will be up for it, players and crowd a like - if we can go at them from the off and even score our own early goal then self doubt will set in for them

We must remember they are hard to score against but are not very good

Must win game

They will be trying to trigger Duran into doing something daft no doubt. Moyes and his dark arts school of management .
