Have done the same but it probably needs more exposure.

Donated but January is a not a great month to raise money for worthy causes such as this. I would hope that the Former Players Association (?) has access to a benevolent fund. I don’t see as much activity as I used to with the Villa Old Stars but perhaps I’m not looking in the right place. I remember there was some schism which I hope has been sorted.

I don't think there is one anymore.

Without wishing to sidetrack the subject matter but having done bit of research there is a unified Aston Villa Former Players Club, formed in 2018 with two main objectives:-

To establish a stronger connection between Villa and its ex players.
To raise money for the former players benevolent fund to help players who have fallen on hard times.

I will try and contact the person who is organising the crowdfunding for Jimmy Brown to see if he is aware of the Former Players Club.

It's a shame for the man it's got to this stage. For him to be in such a state I assume he had issues with it before he moved to Spain 6 years ago, issues with joints don't just creep up on you overnight.  Was he having it looked at then within our NHS?

Email sent giving the contact name and email address of AVFPC - Aston Villa Former Players Club. Hopefully if contact is made they can help along with donations from the broader Villa community.

I have just heard from Jimmy Browns mate and as I suspected he is in touch with the AV Former players Club but has been told to keep expectations low as there are so many ex players in need of money for operations. I would hope the game has changed but I am aware that in bygone time players were sent out to play when not fit and the usage of pain killer drugs was abused to the players detriment. It is staggering though that with the obscene amounts of money in the game that situations like Jimmy Browns can occur. I would hope that modern day players are educated in considering long term health care insurance.
