Obviously I want us to get CL, but even if we don't I hope it's Forest, Chelsea and Newcastle that get it over Man City. I know there's reasons to dislike all of those teams too, but Man City missing out is the best case scenario for me.

Not for me. Man City will be back up there whatever happens, I'd rather have a foot on Newcastle's throat keeping them down. And also, Chelsea not getting top European football could lead to them having financial problems.

I agree - ultimately Man City qualifying for the Europa League for one season is going to make no material difference. Chelsea being out of it for 3 seasons on the trot will help to neutralise them. Newcastle being out of it will keep them from becoming a serious problem.

Ideal situation for us right now is Liverpool, Arsenal, Forest, Man City, and Us taking the 5 Champions League spots.

Newcastle staying out is the most important thing.

Both Chelsea and Forest still feel financially deranged enough that they will blow up and a season (back) in the Champions League won't fix that.

So I think ideal scenario is us, Forest and Chelsea.

Unless you can foresee some sort of permanent decline, I would rather it be Man City over Chelsea.

Just that while they've done better than expected this season, I think that the last few years have left them in an unsustainable position, and probably still results in them being forced to sell the few remaining bits of family silver and imploding.

A bit like Man Utd being in the Champions League last season didn't suddenly fix their structural issues, I think the same would be the case if Chelsea made it in next season.

If Chelsea make it in, some of their players will be paid bigger bonuses, but they will also need to buy better ones as well so will probably waste a crap-load of money anyway.

Whatever outcome moves Chelsea a bit closer to insolvency is fine with me.

Hope us and Forest make it.

The longer Chelsea go, the more likely they end up in the sh*t.

What Chelsea have, is over a decade of regular champions league football and European runs.  That has allowed them to build a commercial operation that is WAY in excess of ours.  They can't afford to stay out of Europe indefinitely, but they're pretty well placed to miss a couple of years and not go to the wall, unfortunately.

it's another reason we need two or three seasons competing in Europe, so that we become "regulars" on the European scene, and start earning the commercial revenue associated with that.  I don't mean Champions League money, I mean all the extra sponsorship and commercial deals that come with being a team competing at the top end of the league and in Europe year on year.

According to Teamtalk (courtsey of the BBC Gossip page) Man City hope to sign Morgan Rogers as Pep is a huge admirer. Hmm.

If Pep is even there.
