Digne very much seems like an issue we need to worry about in the future, not now.

Just like signing Maatsen you mean?

Kinds.  Maastsen’s signing means we do not need to panic about the LB until summer 2026.

My point being we didn’t need to sign him as we had Digne and Moreno but still did, considerably reducing our spending power in other areas, I’m aware of the financial juggling with Chelsea but even so.

I’m sure they thought Digne was off and Moreno was not looking anything like the player before his injury.

Maybe in summer 2023 but not summer 2024.

Separately, Digne is now three years with us and you'd have to say he has been a good signing. Coutinho is really the only bad bit of business we have done since promotion (talking outlay, wages, return on investment etc, I know there have been others who didn't work out)..

Another bargain bucket option. Borja Sainz at Norwich, 23, basque, top scorer in the championship so far, 15 goals so far.

Never seen him or even heard of him tbh but we could send Buendia the other way.

He's like the player El Ghazi wanted to be but never was.

Nice description, I’ve seen he’s been linked with Bilbao now as a replacement for Nico Williams!

We're rumoured to have offered €15m for Flamengo's right-back, Wesley França. The club's board have rejected the offer.

Only 21, and has played 50+ league games for them. https://x.com/AstonVillabrfc/status/1874932769073094996

Never heard of him but his highlights on Youtube make him look amazing.

A right-back, who is also capable of playing on the right side of defence, is on the list for this month.

We've already had Dutch and Brazilian players. I want a Uruguayan, a Mexican and a South Korean.

My elder son and DIL saw him play in the second-half (came on as sub) of the Flamengo v Penarol CONMEBOL Libertadores, Q-F, first leg when they were back in Rio in September. My DIL is desperate for us to sign him, especially as her family are all Flamengo fans.

She can tell her family he wants to join a big club. That will go down well with Flamenguistas. :)

Somebody on twitter with ‘scouting’ in their handle says he’s one of the best young right backs in Europe. So he obviously knows what he’s on about.

Apart from the ‘Europe’ bit obvs.

There has to be a good, athletic, up and coming young right back at can find to challenge Cash. Surely that's why you have multiple scouting teams around the world.

Isn’t his name Nedeljković? Any more ready-made and he’d be very expensive (we spent £8m on Ned and he looks q a way from being ready)

Honestly think we need a Digne type of signing at RB (ie. experienced international level.player who is probably stronger defensively) to go along with Cash in the squad.  Ned out on loan in this country to get some experience.

Whoever we sign lets hope that they are first 11 ready and don't just sit on the bench twiddling their thumbs for 12 months.

Or immediately sent out on loan!  We need a couple of players who can immediately slot into the starting XI.

I do like the look of that Silva we've been linked with but that's on 2 or 3 games so no idea if he's any good. As much as I love Konsa I think we should be targeting a genuine leader on the right side centre back role. We need a commanding option that organises and stands up when we need to batten it down. Forest had that as their key attribute in scouting to find Milenkovic, no coincidence their defence has improved immensely with a voice and leader in there.

Everton  also have it in tarkowski. Its a vital ingredient for any back four
