All about history for me, so the Albion game is our “proper” derby. We played each other 30 times before 1900 - including 3 FA cup finals. That’s incredible. We played Blues just 5 times in that period.

I'm just not that bothered about hating a bus stop in Sandwell over events that occurred 125 years+ ago.

That’s fair enough, there’s room enough for all opinions on this.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but aren't yuou from over that way more so? Quinton way? I'd have thought if that was the case they'd be more on your radar.

More likely to see a wild bear than an Albion fan over my way.

I am originally yeah. My school was 50/50 Villa and Albion, load of my mates are Albion. I just spent most of my time feeling a bit sorry for them because they're shite.

After the 1890s, they've done what? Finished 3rd 40 odd years ago where they celebrate putting 5 past Man United. They knew what they bin about a decade ago. They're just a wanky nothing club, albeit there is something in it on the odd ocassion we play them which I'm happy to get caught up in, the Hi-Tec wearing scruffs that they are.

Only a handful of Noses, but I fucking detest them, even if I've barely paid any attention to them for years. Never a rival, but our derby.

Edit: worth a mention, we are and always will be the unit of measurement for any of the shadow dwelling minnows who occupy the Midlands with us. It's never, ever the other way round and it never will be.

Our current rivals are Tottenham and Man United.

Yes this!

Albion was the real rivalry. Certainly throughout my dad’s life.

The Blues thing was mainly contrived by Evening Mail in the 60s to suit their circulation. Even as late as 81 the Albion was the bigger match in the Championship season!

That's the point, isn't it? Our local rivals' single raison d'être is to be better than the Villa, which is also our own. We should all get along really.

I'm the same with the rags largely, I've a few really good mates down the years that are noses and it's pity rather than anger that they invoke.

Just because a team isnt a local rivalry to one Villa fan doesn't mean it isnt to loads of others. Albion have always been local rivals, games against them were big ones and my hatred started as a young un late 70s, early 80s and still exists. As it probably does for anyone that was at the Cropley game and their chants about him in later games. Stripey bitter wankers.

Rivalry implies there's a competitive element. That's barely existed for any sustained period in over 125 years. We have no local rivals. Local dreamers perhaps, but not rivals.

Rival - a person or thing competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity:
"he has no serious rival for the job" · "gun battles between rival gangs"

Rivalry or not, a resounding chant of Wanky, Wanky Wanderers from within the ground will clear the vocal chords and add to my armchair amusement. I'm sure Gary would approve.

Emery on Watkins' fitness: "He’s available 100 per cent to play. He had some problems, like other players, but not relevant. He’s now available tomorrow 100 per cent to play."

On Wolves: "Our experience is that every game is difficult. You have to respect every team and if you want to win you have to focus on the match. They played very well here, they compete very well and it's the same coach. Tomorrow is going to be a very difficult match."

Emery also provided an update on Boubacar and Tyrone: "Kamara and Mings are training every day now consistently with the team, they started this week.
"It’s very good news."

Unai on Jhon Duran: "He is close to playing in the starting eleven and he has to understand as well in his process how he can manage to play with Ollie Watkins. But of course, I am very happy with how he has started this season."
