1-4

Unless Gauci plays, then it's 0-4.

Posted this in the Champions League thread - I hadn't noticed this one specifically about Tuesday's match.

Yesterday's result:

Swiss Cup - second round
Vevey Sports 2-4 Young Boys.

Vevey Sports play in the 3rd tier of Swiss football.

For YB captain Loris Benito played his first game after 7 months out with an ACL, and keeper Van Ballmoos was back after being out for 3 weeks with a shoulder injury. But they lost their 6'2" Senegalese defensive midfielder Cheikh Niasse to a pretty poor tackle - he's doubtful for Tuesday's game.

We'll be playing on a plastic pitch - something called Polytan LigaTurf RS Pro CoolPlus - whatever that is.

So here it is, Merry Champions League.

I originally wanted a home game to kick it all off but have changed my mind, this feels somewhat low key, and Oct 2nd will be emotionally charged enough.

No idea what team will be on the pitch, don't know about the opposition either but I think the low key nature of the match will be borne out on the pitch.

0-0

I would imagine it will be same team vs everton for this one. I think i would rather have konsa at rb and have carlos at cb with pau in only change

We'll have one eye on the big game against Real Wolverhampton, 2-2.

Them 1-2 Us. Heavily rotated squad, and a more routine win than the score suggests. Job done.

A good performance in our first CL game would be lovely.

A little while back in September 1981 we started our first European Cup campaign which went quite well.

Gary Shaw scored both goals in the 2nd leg, 1st round to see off the threat from FC Valur (aggregate 7-0).

I remember watching the games on the gogglebox but I can't remember why Gary wasn't available for the 1st leg and Terry Donovan played. Does anyone on the site know why?

P.S Just seen the new posts and hope it isn't true.

Why do you think the squad will be rotated? I think unai will go as strong as possible.

With Brian Kerr and Dicky Dunne critiquing the Villa, heaven save us...
