BBC did an article where 11th could get Europe in a weird set of circumstances, although not sure how accurate it can be as I thought there was a limit on CL places.

Quote
Liverpool, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League

Newcastle finish fifth and claim England's additional Champions League spot

Brighton & Hove Albion finish sixth and qualify for the Europa League

Bournemouth finish seventh and take the Conference League place passed down by EFL Cup winners Newcastle

Chelsea finish eighth and qualify for the Europa League by winning this season's Conference League

Aston Villa finish ninth and qualify for the Champions League by winning this season's Champions League

Crystal Palace finish 10th and qualify for the Europa League by winning this season's FA Cup

Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur finish 11th and qualify for the Champions League by winning this season's Europa League

The limit on Champions League places was scrapped a couple of years ago.

I'd imagine most seasons now we'll have at least 8 in Europe every year.

Fulham are 3 points behind us, of course they are in it. It's so tight that 2 consecutive good/bad results could see a lot of positional changes.

I'll keep an eye on their results but they still have to come to Villa Park. If we lose that, top 5 will probably be a tough ask anyway. They also have Chelsea and Citeh (last game) so may yet do us a favour or two.

If a club below us overtakes us we aren't going anywhere anyway so Fulham aren't on our radar for the moment.
Yes that’s it. Plus we are on the fringe where we still need snookers for others contenders above us and Fulham are 3 points behind us, so no chance.

And that’s the reason they are not in it. Plus they are not strong enough. They have collected 9 points from last 6 after today’s win. That’s not good enough.

We don't need snookers at all. And if we don't make top 5 then it's a battle for 6th. To go above us Fulham need 3 more points than us for the rest of the season. Same as we need to finish above Chelsea and Man City.

Clearly that tells me that Fulham are not going to finish top 5.

Our best chance of finishing top five includes Newcastle not winning against Arsenal and Chelsea not winning against Liverpool. We also have a far better chance of winning a potential semi-final against Arsenal if they don't rest the entire team in the league games before each leg, and so need the title "race" to carry on for as long as possible. Liverpool losing was a good result for us. Any team that finishes below Fulham won't be qualifying for Europe via their league position anyway.

Who was worse - Jurić at Saints or Garde at Villa?

Jurić - 4 points from 14 games... 0.286 points per game
Garde - 12 points from 20 games... 0.6 points per game

So, Jurić.

TBF to Garde, and I'm stretching, we only got 17 all season. 12 in 20 is better than I thought it would be.

God, that season was a fucking horrible experience...and the preceding five years had been shit too. The end of Lambert was like getting out of prison, then immediately booking in for a checkup with your friendly local GP Dr. H Shipman.

I think it was you who made the point that having 8 lessens your chance of getting the coefficient high enough.
