I don’t think this was the match to leave out Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Van Dijk, Konate, Mac Allister and Robertson.

and we got persecuted for a few jokes about Ant and Dec
They actually showed the Sob on the Tyne banner in the build-up to the game. They never forgave us for it but i was there and no-one i knew was wanting them to drop.

Absolutely everyone I knew who has any interest, wanted them down. I had messages from Noses saying they were hoping Villa won.

I wanted them to drop. I can't understand why any non-Newcastle supporter wouldn't unless they had some other team they wanted to take their place. It was even more ironic that Shearer was in charge AND Owen was playing. The only thing I will mention is the Sob on the Tyne is remembered, but the other one which is forgotten about "Who will be the next saviour, ant or dec?"
I remember that one too. I had enormous respect for Shearer as a player and no reason to have any grudge against Newcastle. All their fans i've ever spoken to have been sound. Its good to see an English manager with a core of English players win something with an English player scoring as well. Lets be honest - we're a bit jealous tonight.

Anyone who has followed football since the 70s and is ‘disappointed’ those victims have lost today, haven’t been paying attention.

Great day for football all over the country.

Fucking hell. It really feels like a twat siren has gone up over this place recently.

It was bizarre. When you consider the league is practically locked up then why not just go for it today and get one trophy in the bag? Not like they have a CL game coming up.

Well played Geordies.  Thoroughly deserved it.

What would be very funny is if Liverpool-s season folded in on itself

As we won the 2 main cups too..

I always credit Shearer with being very balanced, bordering on positive, about us since then. No doubt he - unlike most of their squawking, deluded fans - understood that any club would've taken the piss just as much as we did.
plus he were a tremendous player was Alan.

Anybody who didn't think this would be the biggest media wankfest since That Night in Barcelona really doesn't know much about football.

Yep. Precisely why I wanted Liverpool to win. It’s going to be beyond vomit inducing for a good while now.

Its the energy drinks cup tho , not the FA Cup or even Champs league.

We need to won one :)

Great player. Absolute cheating bastard who got away with murder because he played for England (until he couldn't be arsed any more). Seems to be an utter twat in real life. Even Geordies that know him don't tend to like him.

I think I will avoid the BBC football for a few days
As we are not playing, it will not be very difficult.

This will give the PIF FC a massive lift for the run in. Bad result for us I fear.

Strange take. Not many teams have a good league after winning the League Cup apart from the Etihad cheats.
