Bit early in the season to be on the beach, but you look at the bottom 3/4, and perhaps it's not surprising.

Are Newcastle guaranteed an Europa League spot for next season, or if Liverpool win the League Cup does the PL get an extra Europa spot?

LC winner is a Conference spot. So if the LC winners qualifies for CL or EL then the Conference spot goes to a league place.

I don’t want the conference league next season.
If were to be in that I think be more fringe players in it than first teamers
We also lose the appeal to players of being a Champions League club.
At very least Europa League provides a pathway to Champions League.

If Villa win FA Cup that’s automatic entry to Europa League.

As usual a London club lets us down.

Comment on BBC earlier in the game said as much. West Ham have 10 games left with basically nothing to play for. They're not in a relegation scrap and they're not challenging for European places.

As World Cup winners it's only fair they get the 10 weeks off before the summer holidays.

Inter, Barca and Bayern all on the other side of the draw and should all progress ok tonight.

I feel Inter who I say and tip to win the whole thing (if not Villa!) are being overlooked.
And when I ever hear discussion it’s either Bayern because final is in Munich or Barcelona (and Hansi Flick back to Germany) will be in final or winners.

Only saw the 2nd half - but that was a tough watch, Newcastle are going to have to massively improve to beat Liverpool on Sunday

One of my Essex based work colleagues has oft made the quip that West Ham come down with the Christmas decorations. A couple of recent seasons are exceptions.

Something to keep an eye one tonight, Harvey Elliott, Ibrahima Konaté, Alexis Mac Allister, Andy Robertson and Virgil Van Dijk are all one yellow card away from missing the first leg of the quarter final assuming they go through.
