Well, it'll be either them or Tottenham, most likely. So nuclear apocalypse is preferable, either way.

Definitely. Not that I'd watch such a final or read anything about it, ever, but even knowing it had happened would be like a stone in the shoe of my soul.

I agree. I would want (as much as you can want such a thing) a Tottenham win, though. Fuck the Saudis, let's keep Ange in the job.

It would be somewhat amusing if Ange ‘I always win a trophy in my second year’ actually won a trophy but still got fired.

It would be even funnier if he didn't win it and then got fired.

Yeah. Liverpool can wallop Spurs 4-0 in the return leg, then beat Newcastle 4-0 in the final, with two-thirds of their supporters already out of the ground and on the way home to beat the traffic when the fourth goes in.

It's the first time this season that Liverpool have had a couple of successive weak performances and Slot was stropping about already in the dugout. He's come in and everything has been shiny and wonderful so far, but the measure of a manager is coping under pressure and in adversity and with the contracts of three of his starters up in the summer he may have some choppy waters ahead.

I'm sticking a tenner on Forest just in case.

They, like ourselves and other teams have a blip during a season. When push comes to shove they'll perform. It was nice for a change to see decisions not given their way for a change. For us it's every other week.

Noticeable that in both the recent matches, Salah didn't really perform. Not sure if that was because he was well-marked out wide or just keeping those standards up was an impossibility but him coming all the way across and stopping MacAllister from shooting was very telling of his performance.

Liverpool will be winning again as soon as I don't want them to. They were always going to be shit against Man U and Tottenham, to annoy me. Not that I take it personally. The twats.

So if Everton lose tonight at home to Peterborough and Liverpool lose at home to Accrington Stanley on Saturday, then the Merseyside derby can be rearranged for the weekend of the 4th round, sorted.

Can understand Everton's decision to part company with Dyche, but the timing seems bizarre so close to a game.  According to Talksport, the players didn't know until they arrived for their pre-match meal.  They also said that it's likely Moyes will go back there!

That's what happens when you shove games to Thursday nights, ditch replays, devalue the final etc etc

And apparently both teams playing extremely weaker sides for this one

I like Sheff Utd and normally would side with them but I can’t stand Wilder, so I hope Cardiff win
Because I’m shallow like that

Ashley Young on the bench and his son is on the other bench.
