We didn't get battered by Liverpool at all.

Wasn’t it a combination of individual errors and some questionable refereeing decisions? I seem to remember we did ok.

That helps us massively  cheers 'The Mighty Reds YNWA'

Still convinced they’ll finish above us?

I was never "convinced" just a prediction.  They got battered  by liverpool like we did. We currently are only 5 points clear with not even half the volume of games played yet so its too early to say. Ask me again in 10 ganes.

Ill happily hope my prediction is wrong.

“Pretty sure they’d finish above us” is what you said. And Man U.

Try being a little bit more optimistic. You’ll have a lovely time.

"Pretty sure they would finish above us" is not saying i am convinced spurs will finish above us. So you are completely wrong there with your wording.

If you read most of my posts this weekend i have said numerous times that yesterdays game was first time in league we looked like last seasons side. We got the ball forward quicker, looked so dangerous and were relenetless. More of that please.

Its all good beating city but if we go get spanked by Newcastle its not really great is it? We need to be going to places like newcastle and getting something  if we are serious about CL again. We have lost at chelsea liverpool forest spurs (teams  rivalling us for champions league spots) if we can improve here then we have a great chance of top 5.

If you want to be precise over wording, you've said that the current squad has "no chance" of finishing in the top five, so which five do you definitely have finishing ahead of us?

Are you still pretty sure they’ll finish above us?

I read enough of your posts, thanks. I’m not going to seek them all out.

I said in the context of our form at the time. Would be great if you could actually include everything instead of misleading the forum thank you.

Well clearly not as you used the wrong wording

Sorry, here you go.

"Will we qualify for the CL?"

If we sign no one in January  no chance.

So...those five teams that we have no chance of finishing ahead of, assuming all the squads stay the same?

I can see Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea finishing above us but I don’t think Forest or Bournemouth have the  staying power until May. So, yes to the CL again and the good times. 👍

As i said that was in the context of our form a day after the forest game collapse. So thanks foe confirming that 👌

You seem to have conveniently left out the various other posts where i said that its not impossible for us to get CL right now evn i dont believe we are currently strong enough  to get CL 🤷‍♂️

I think the point is that our chances of qualifying for the Champions League don’t go to zero after one defeat.

I think we have "no chance" of finishing ahead of Liverpool. I think it's highly unlikely that we'll finish ahead of Arsenal or Chelsea. I think that even in their current travails, I'd be surprised to see us ahead of Man City in May. If you told me that any of Spurs, Man Utd of Newcastle had got their act together and finished ahead of us I wouldn't be astonished. If any of Bournemouth, Brighton or Forest do a Villa '23 style run and get top five, perfectly plausible.

All of those things *could* happen and we finish eleventh. Or none of them happen, we click, go on one of our runs and finish second.

My wild stab in the dark is that neither happen and we *probably* finish between fifth and seventh, not many points from the place ahead of, or behind us.

It's the lack of any possibility of the thing at the front of one's mind not being a cast iron certainty (until that mind is changed five minutes later) that I don't understand.

Well, yes. This is rather the point.

You don't seem capable of seeing that over a 38 game season, a late defeat against Forest doesn't make a top five finish impossible, any more than a comfortable victory against Man City makes it inevitable.

Both would be absolutely stupid positions to take, both in the frustration of last Saturday or the euphoria of yesterday.

Defeat at anfield or Stamford Bridge or St James Park for that matter is not too bad as long as we beat them at Villa Park. That part is crucial though.

We’ve got all of those games in the second half of the season. Knowing our luck they’ll all be after important CL matches.
