They didn't really get their wish though as that was the 8 or 10 teams just play each other over and over and over......
They wanted to grow it to 16 with those ones selected by "the founders" but not guaranteed each season, and founders did not get kicked out. You are right about this format being "fair" but don't confuse it with what the clubs wanted a few years ago which was totally different and definitely not fair to anyone outside the founders.
Man City and PSG being absolutely shite and still (in all likelihood) getting into the playoffs, means it can still work in favour of big clubs. They’d both be out under the old format.

It's a League, it will NEVER happen. Far too many teams in worse position than us. One or two or 3 may do better BUT not everyone.
