Given he slipped over twice in the first ten minutes, changed his boots and didn't slip over again doesn't that kind of suggest that his boots did have something to do with it?

Yeah but isnt it the players responsibility to know that the boots are crap? How is anyone else suppose to know he is the one wearing them and can tell if there is a issue with them

Romaro and van de ven both pick up injuries again

Thought he'd retired and gone into politics. He was good for Vasco and Barça in his heyday.

I went to a Vasco v Corinthians game in Rio back in 2005. I made the mistake of taking the taxi to the away end where I paid on entry only to find I was almost the only person in that section, with the rest of the ground full.

The Vasco ultras were throwing missiles into the away end from outside the ground. Anyway, it turns out the Paulistas were delayed in heavy traffic and after about half an hour, the away end filled up and was rocking.

A 39 year old Romario scored for Vasco but Corinthians (who were missing a 20 yo Carlos Tevez through suspension), came back and won 3-2 with the help of their better-late-than-never away support.

I believe I also saw Juninho (yeah that one) play for Palmeiras in a boring 0-0 on that trip too.

I see tonight’s West Ham vs Wolves game is being billed as “El Sackico”.

It’s hair that’s shouting out “pull me”.
This slipping over shit does my head in. Most Prem pitches have Mastergrass these days, they should know which studs are required, it’s basic stuff. Far more basic than set piece coaches, psychologists, kit carriers and such like. If they’re unsure which one to wear get on the pitch beforehand and try them all out, i include our lot in this too, but really, they should have no excuse for slipping over.

These were the boots he was trying (or very similar).

Looks too soft to me anyway, however I wonder how much was the studs and how much was the edges.

I went to Spurs v Man United a few years back (I go to a lot of random matches)  and that was also dubbed El Sackico. It was between Nuno and Solskjaer and Spurs lost 3-0, leading to the sacking of Nuno. Ronaldo scored an unbelievable goal that day incidently.

Whatever happened to that Nuno fella I wonder......?  ;D

How Spurs could do with him now.

Nope. They don't tend to give many managers much time really. I suspect a certain portly antopodean will find that out within a matter of weeks too.

That's what the Rangers fans used to call him.

Bit strange with the Spurs manager, it’s likely to be the biggest gig he’ll get, unless he returns to Celtic, so you’d think he’d be a bit more pragmatic and alter his attacking philosophy from time to time in an attempt to stop in the job a bit longer. He’s not the only one like that but you’d think there’d be a bit of self preservation.

Postecoglu apparently is from the MON school on the training field (ie usually not there, and when he does, he's not exactly Guardiolan in his attention to detail).

He's like a midtable Vincent Kompany/Russell Martin. One way to play and that's your lot.
