IF we've bombed out by the time the Celtic game comes around and neither side has a chance of progressing - even to the play-off stage, then Villa will have a Heck of a job to sell tickets at £97- £85 for a meaningless mid-week game in January.

Obviously I hope that's not the case.

Alternatively we could have qualified for playoff round with no chance of top 8, or even be in top 8 already, and the final game could just have some jostling for seeding positions on it. Again, wouldn't seem that appealing.

Not surprised.

Everyone can see how quickly the prices have increased in last 2-3 years at prem level and the general disdain Heck has for the average fan. Mind you same would've happened with Purslow still around I'm sure.

This I'm afraid is what Football is in 2024 and has been for quite some time and with Bayern, Juve and Celtic coming up they were going to milk it up even further given it's a premium competition.

I would say this though, god help the club if they mess up the next manager to follow Unai and we drop back down the prem table.

We saw that happen on a lesser scale when O'Neill left and McLeish/Lambert replaced him and attendances went from 38k to 28k in two years.

The club are very complacent thinking we could just keep getting 42k at eye watering prices if we were stuck back in the bottom half as you're going to alienate too many of our "legacy" fanbase with these prices on top of the season tickets.

As a non STH I will probably go to one of the latter 2 games. I won't take my lad to a night game as he is too young.

We haven't been in the competition for 4 decades and it has evolved beyond imagination in that time - marketing and commercially.

Comparing us to Liverpool, and more recent Cit-eh and Celtic this season is missing the point as they qualify regularly even Celtic. We don't and haven't for donkeys.

The club can get away (and that is what is) with charging high Arsenalesque prices this year alone - it is shit for regular fans but they can. Cit-eh have thousands of empty seats for non Premier League games.

If we win it or even get to SFs this year, it will be far worse on the pocket next season.

Holte End ticket was £3

If people pay the prices they will keep doing it.
It needs people to wake up and tell them to fuck off.

So I pay my £79 pounds.
Drive to Tamebridge parkway.
Catch the crowded train to Witton, oh no that’s for away fans only.
Catch the crowed train to Aston.
Walk further to the ground.
Join the queues outside the Holte.
Wade through piss at half time.
Walk back to Witton Station, oh no see point 3.
Walk back to an overcrowded Aston station.
Get back late to Tamebridge.
Arrive home some time the following day.

This is the glamour of being back in Europe with Heck at the helm.
I understand the sentiments behind your post, but 1 point - We use Tame Bridge Parkway and we were able to get off at and back on at Witton for each of the ECL games last season.

I remember 2004 when, aged 14-15, I used to buy 20 Bensons on the way to school, in uniform, and had change from a fiver. Nowadays, I'm lucky if I have change back from a £20 note, get IDd more often, and the govamunt wants to stop me smoking outdoors.

Vote Farage!

(Not to diminish the issue of ticket prices, of course.)

To be fair, if you’re still going in to shops wearing your school uniform in your mid 30s, I’d be ID’ing you too.

I suppose the cost of the tickets goes towards paying Emi's reported £200k a week wages.

I am still stunned at the cost of the tickets, spoke to my Wife about this last night, decided that I will only attend the Bayern Munich and Juventus games.

Bunch of moaning minnies ! It's only £300 for all 4 games for an over-66.  Pay for it with the winter fuel allowance.
