It sounds like a country where there are very strong local differences and rivalries, similar to the Black Country (in my experience).

The Black Country is at least united by a common language - gibberish.

(Sorry in advance, Dave W.)

The locals were telling us that it is pronounced Broo- her, but that they can't understand people from 20 miles away and they would pronounce it differently.

It sounds like a country where there are very strong local differences and rivalries, similar to the Black Country (in my experience). Which may explain why those talented national team players never win anything.
Did some work with Ministry of Education in the French speaking part of Belgium, they knew nothing of what went on in the Flemish speaking part and less of what went on in the German speaking part. All three areas had their own separate department of education and I am presuming their own department of everything else as well. I tried to ask a few questions about the other area but they did not want to talk about it. I think after the last election it took them about 6 months to set up a govt.

That’s mad!

I was working with Belgian companies 15-20 years ago and remember that Flemish speakers generally spoke some French whereas the Wallons spoke no Flemish. As a result the unemployment rates were much lower for the Flemish population as they could work across the country. No idea if that is still the case.

All sounds about right. We're in education and have offices in Belgium and, as above, we have to have separate versions of our products for Flanders and Wallonia, not just because of language but because they have very different needs, it's really odd. In my experience the Flanders side is much easier to work with.

Stupid, easy-to-get-on-with Flanders.

If we do somehow manage to get past Brugge what day do we play in Paris? 8 or 9 April?

Opta computer doing its weirdness.

Updated Opta after first leg matches.

After the first leg at Paris, they seem to think Liverpool are easily through AND have actually increased their chances of progressing now we are their more likely opponents.

Well this super Opta machine is a bit shit

Won't know until Friday I expect. Might be sooner if clubs have got together beforehand with prospective opponents.
