A bit dramatic and a bit obvious. I doubt we're done yet and think we have 2 more "big" money signings to come.

Yeah I think we've only baked the cake so far and are yet to decorate it.

With a cherry on top ?

I hope so. Underwhelmed so far. Gimme an incredible shooty tricksy dribbly goaly winger, as a bare minimum.

McGrath forbid anything happens to Watkins this coming season.

If Duran stays and he gets his head down then maybe not so much of a problem, but I think he will still try to get away before the end of the transfer deadline and I just don't see Archer being good enough for the premier league.

I would go all out and put a bid in for Evan Ferguson at Brighton.

I think it has been a bit disappointing so far.

Think we need to get rid of quite a few still.

I’m not sure I understand this argument about replacing goals scored last season by departing players. Everybody starts on zero. Luiz doesn’t come with 10 goals and 10 assists in the bank for 2024/25. Diaby wouldn’t start on 10 goals either. He would have to do it all again. It’s way too simplistic

Looking at the BBC sport headlines, they show the headlines on the back pages of the Daily newspapers - the Daily Mail headline is "why clouds are gathering at Villa"

The article is behind a pay wall - may be an interesting read, if anyone can access the story.

Try this:

typical OTT crap in the week preceding the season-start.

Ferguson would have already made a move from Brighton if he could stay fit

Well, not really. You lose goalscorers you need to replace then with goalscorers and/or have other team members score more or you will definitely end up with fewer goals.

Ramsey and Rogers will score at least as many as Diaby.

I don’t think it’s over the top at all. I think it’s really balanced outside of the headline.

Barracuda, Illing, Philogene and Ned bulk the squad options up. Probably better options than the Donk and the fresh air we had that they've replaced. I'm not sure how many games you'd be expecting them to play and I'm not sure you'd want too many on the pitch at a given moment to dilute the quality.

Onana I like and think, for now, he is a certain type of cover for Kamara who we miss so badly. We cannot like for like a replacement for a player as good as him, we simply couldn't afford it. Barkley offers something at home when we're dominating the ball that Dougie could do from that deep lying position. It feels with those two we're trying to make up the aggregate a bit though.

Emi I think is better than Zaniolo. JJ I think is as good as Grealish, I honestly do. Superb talent and if he stays fit...

In the hopeful category we are banking on Watkins, Bailey and Rogers to maintain form and rate of improvement. We're also hopeful on Tyrone to come back.

The Dougie hole that's been created isn't quite so obvious, as Luiz lack of pace/presence was in an issue that has been resolved. The Diaby goals/assists/pace gap- is that made up?

There's definitely questions, but...who isn't having these thoughts the league over.

A quality back up/second striker to Ollie is vital. We can't make half efforts in Europe or glide the weekend fixture after. Rotation will be key.

Similarly a new centre half for me.

I dont agree with that.

Diabys work rate and pace was what made his so good for us early in season. Dougie is a rare one. He scores goals, creates can take set pieces. Not many in our squad that have that in their locker.

Thats not even mentioning both of their fitness records. Youri for example has been quite injury prone in his time here

I also think our best 10 at the moment is Tielemans and he would get quite a few if played there regularly. I think it might take a few weeks for right formula to be found
