I do wonder if it’s even Felix’s choice where he plays at this point. He seems to be owned by Mendes.

Nonsense.

Blimey a bit defensive there about Mendes. It was said a little tongue in cheek. But as has been seen with Wolves he has immense influence over where his players end up. I’m sure he looks after his clients but Mendes has done very, very well out of managing where they play and the contracts they agree to. I don’t know for sure if that’s the case here but Felix, despite all the talent in the world, doesn’t seem to be able settle anywhere since he burst onto the scene at Benfica.

Is this also a little tongue in cheek or more nonsense?

Maybe Felix does not want to move to a midlands club, and he prefers the bright lights of London.
Would not be the first and wouldn’t be the last.

Why did Chelsea turn him down previously?

Widely reported as wages being the problem. He was the highest earner there. He took a wage drop to play at Barca.

Change of manager(s?) can’t have helped. They’ve flip flopped from conte to potter to poch so there’s little logic in anything they’ve done in the transfer market.

Seems odd that he’s good enough now when he wasn’t previously. Moving the money seems the priority rather than the qualities of the given  players.

I'm not aware that we've actually made a bid for Felix. We've sounded out the player & held some talks with Madrid but not gone as far as a bid. I suspect we can't afford Felix unless Duran goes.

Yup, I reckon it’s as simple as that.

The clue is dodgy as feck Uncle Jorge is involved….the deal will go where he wants it too.

Nothing dodgy about Uncle Jorge, he just likes to get paid, he doesn't mind by who. I think he's done his bit to encourage Felix to move to Villa and how good a club it is plus a great place to get his career back on track. Until now we haven't put an offer in.
We won't put in an offer until we know he'll come.  He's clearly not that interested and probably see's us as a last resort.

Much as I'd like Emery to get his man, I have serious concerns about Felix even if he does come.  It feels very Stephen Ireland to me.

Yup, I see ion it’s as simple as that.

I hope the club are being prudent like that. I assume they are. Slow sustainable growth is needed.

If we have to sell a player each summer then we’ll get caught out eventually as it’d only take one bad season, where players’ values fall and suddenly we need to sell two ‘crown jewels’ and we’re back to mid-table.

Can we afford £34m for Samu Omorodion? This made me laugh, I've never seen a highlights video where a player goes to ground so often.

This is true, but it's more applicable to younger players. So he might say "if you want to have a great career, trust me that a couple of years in Wolverhampton would actually be better for you in the long-term than going to Valencia or Fiorentina".

And given he has a pretty strong track record to point to, they often do. It's a lot harder to go to Ruben Dias or Bernardo Silva and say "actually, I think you should leave Man City because your maxed-out career in terms of cash and trophies can be made better by doing this..."

So I'm sure Felix would listen to Mendes, but he's probably at the stage where he decides for himself what he wants to do.

I actually think that's part of the issue. Felix clearly thinks he's a world star that should be at a glamour club. Which is fine but makes him all wrong for us. We need to move on, find an alternative that can be that foot on the ball creative 10 type, and sort the defence.

Baena makes sense as he knows Unai too.

Something in this, are we always better off signing players for whom we are a step up?
