They've just spent twenty million quid on a goalie from the Belgian league and immediately loaned him back.

I really want us to sign Geertruida now, and I never even heard of him until yesterday!!  RHS big bastard, just what we need!

I think links to Diego from West Ham and Fulham, people saying that's his level - I suspect if either of them signed him they'd be disappointed after a season.  It's a shame because I was excited to get him, but I think the injury has done him for consistency.  When he is good he is brilliant (obvious games from last season) but most of the time he is meh, but seems a good bloke.  He'll no doubt play a blinder against us though if he goes to another PL team!!

I agree, I thought we were signing a real talisman but that injury definitely accelerated the aging process as a footballer….inconsistent for us since

Geertruida sounds like an Anglo-Saxon saint whose miracle was a mysterious control over eels.

Does this include amounts for players we received from Juve in the Doug deal? if so its pretty misleading.

Why would it be misleading? It's gross, not nett.

🚨⚪️⚫️ Fulham have genuine interest in Diego Carlos as Brazilian centre back has been approved by Marco Silva.

Talks to follow as Aston Villa would sign replacement in case of exit with several options in list, including Geertruida.

🚨 Aston Villa turn down 1st offer from Fulham to sign centre-back Diego Carlos. #FFC targeting Brazilian to strengthen defence + discussions ongoing despite opening bid rejected. Also interest from Saudi Arabia for 31yo; #AVFC contract 2026

What do we need for a positive FFP figure for Carlos?

DC is a funny one. When he’s switched on he can be exceptional and against really high level opposition. But too regularly he’s not switched on, and when he’s not he makes really bad mistakes.

This was a criticism of him before we bought him wasn’t it? I don’t want to underestimate the impact his injury has had but I also think the lapses in concentration have been present throughout his career.

Signed on a 4yr contract c.£26m.
2 yrs left = c.£13m outstanding for PSR purposes, so £15m+ should give us a profit.

He's on £100k a week.

I wouldn't be surprised if he looked a better player at Fulham/West Ham. The Achilles Tendon rupture cost him his first season so last season was effectively his first and he was basically starting over after a year out. He probably needed that year to get himself right. The level we're at and trying to get too is probably too much for him but I can see him doing a good job for another Premier League club.

Transfrmrkt says the deal was €31m on a 4 year deal, which he’s had 2 of. So anything north of €15.5m less wages will see us positive in year for PSR

Dendonck was exceptional in the post-Gerrard game against Brentford when Ginny was dropped and also when we tore Newcastle apart 3-0 later that season when some Heroes & Villains called it the best display by a Villa side they had ever seen, bless'em, the hyperbolic buggers.

He had a handful of other decent games. Nice finish at Old Trafford last Christmas too when we gave Villa our hearts but on Boxing Day, they gave it away.

He had the turning circle of an old WWII tank unfortunately as evidenced by the Stevenage fuck-up.
