If young Bogarde plays like he did tonight we don’t need a new right sided CB, he was excellent

I've liked Bogarde every time I've seen him but it's always looked like he had a 'rick' in him (like most young central defenders to be fair). If his experience out on loan has helped with that then he could definitely be one to keep around as an option.

I like the look of Bogarde.  Would like to see him sign a new deal and go out on loan though, ditto Swinkels but only to decent clubs.  Bogarde has something about him.

Agree.   The Saliba path of a few loans to get the games under his belt and then arrive back at Villa much closer to the finished article.

West Ham are keeping an eye on the Diego Carlos situation at Aston Villa.

If we can offload Carlos for decent money and get a more aerially dominant replacement we would do very well. An FFP swap shop deal for Chalobah and Duran would have worked but they have moved on from that one.

Shame, I've been a big fan of Chalobah for years. Fantastic defender.

Me too, think he's got good potential and would suit us well.

Mason Cotcher is set to undergo a medical at Aston Villa on Friday ahead of a move from Sunderland.

No real surprise, he's already been playing for our Academy.

You would think Bogarde would get a decent club and get a lot of experience if he went out on loan for a season. It's a big step up now to play for us and I would worry he would end up not getting many minutes if he stayed, which only harms his development. A full season at a good championship club and he could be a lot more ready for the level he needs to be at.

Unai & Co have had a good look at some of our youngsters in the various friendlies and look to have decided who to put out on loan. Expect a number of Academy players to be loaned out as we go along.

Pretty sure that we'll see a couple or three more senior players go too, with replacements coming in: central defender, forward and an attacking central midfielder.

Personally, I think it’s hard to say they’ve had a good look at players in pre season when we are saying that results don’t matter it’s just getting back to fitness….the two don’t match. They know who they want for now, who may be a good investment, and who will be a decent player in the future….
None of these may actually happen but that has to be the logic…

If ends up anything like Saliba, I'll be delighted!  Saliba was such a weird one.  They paid something like £25m for him as a teenager, then sent him out on loan for three years on he trot, leaving everyone to assume they must have bought a dud.  But he comes back to Arsenal two years ago and has played brilliantly ever since.  I guess the lesson is that you shouldn't write off players who are still going out on loan at 20/21.  Even Maatsen who we've just paid £35m for, was on loan in the Championship at 20.
