Samuel lling-junior looks a young talent

He's the type of high profile young player that I hoped we would be looking towards as we get higher up the league.

Certainly one for the future.

I would rather he just join though, & none of this Douglas Luiz bullshit.

I definitely remember hearing pundits rave about him in some European fixture, he is a very attacking wing-back.

Hes not a wing back tbh. He was placed there in an England U21 game against Luxembourg (I think) & scored 2.

Juventus then copied it & he played a bit there. But its not his natural position.

He's not great defensively, but he is very fast, about 6'0", good dribbler & a left footed left midfielder.

I want us to sign him, but just to sign him & not as some part exchange because Juventus have 57p & a packet of pork scratchings but want to shop in Louis Vuitton...

He was played in different positions in the Juventus youth teams, before he was picked for England U21

An article about him from Jan, and we'ew mentioned as being interested in him then

Most wing backs aren't natural wing backs, they're nearly always converted wingers, much like our own Alex Moreno.

One of the qualities the great managers have is selling players at the right time, when they have peaked. I wouldn't knock Unai if that's whats happening here, he may think we've seen the best of him?

Shame as he's been one of my favourites but players come and go.

What about great Directors of Football? If we are to believe the rumours, we valued Dougie at £85m but are willing to do a deal for a total value of £50m. Either it's bullshit or Monchi is having his trousers pulled down.

Or he's definitely off (either he wants out, or we are desperate for cash), we don't want to sell to Arsenal or any other English team and this is the best option currently.

The 'we are desperate for cash' before 30th June seems to be the latest doing the rounds. Shit bit on business if true.

There’s that stat that we ran less than any team last season, pressed less and were basically bone idle most of the time.

Maybe we will play three 8s and they kinda rotate, so one sits (rests) whilst the others press. Tactically it might make us more flexible and give us a Plan B.

?

Luiz playmaking ability key to that stat. Keep the ball so you have less running to do. If we are expecting any of Barkley or McKennie to replace his ability on the ball then we will be very disappointed I suspect. Only positive is that it should free up McGinn to play further forward again.

Interesting article.

Sounds a solid young chap too.

Telegraph reporting that Duran is now a target for Chelsea again after Captain Ben Sesko signed a new contract at DS9.

We do less running because a big part of our game plan was to slow the game down and only add pace when it suited us. If we'd tried to play an all-action game we'd have been fucked long before it finally hit home in late March.
Exactly.  It was superb squad management by Emery.

It really was. With the proposed additions, and players returning from injury, I think we're going to be better next season.

I believe we will be better next season. All these things happening are not being done without Emery's involvement. He will have a plan.

The bone idle comment was jest, clearly it was a tactical plan. That why I suggested having three 8s might be part of a new plan.

I always loved the first 20 minutes where we pass in around aimlessly at the back before launching a sucker punch to go 1-0 up. Good for the possession stats too.

Looks like Duran could be next out of the door as stories of his departure to Chelsea are heating up.

If Dougie & Duran are to go & it seems signs are suggesting they will it’s refreshing that we seem to be doing it early so all the PSR nonsense talk is dealt with and we can get back to sorting out the key summer signings such as a centre half

What sort of fee are they speculating for Duran?

Very hard to know exactly what you’re buying, reminds me of balotelli.
