I wouldn't have thought adding a right-sided attacker is our most pressing concern.

I could see it if he's coming in to play in the '8' role alongside a more defensive '6', but we already have Luiz, Tielemans and McGinn who can play there.

We badly need an athletic, physical player to play that '6' role in Kamara's absence and then rotate with him when he's back.

Are you expecting Luiz, Tielemans and McGinn to play 50-60 games next season?

We need someone to come in for one of them when they're injured, suspended, rested or out of form; or a rotation/bench option. We need a squad not just a team.

We need to have better options across as much of the squad as we possibly can, not just see them as covering for injuries.

Like you said, there's no way some of these players can play most of our matches next season.

For a start, there are EIGHT Champions League games minimum, and rather than just propping up some group of death and limping out like Newcastle did, we're likely to have more to play for, for longer, so it won't just become a dead rubber we can ignore.

Then there's the domestic cups to think of - remember, this is our year to win the FA Cup, that's a lot more matches as well.

The squad we have ran themselves into the ground last season. We were able to change the team for the conference league games but won’t have that luxury this season.
Every champions league game will need our best 11 on the pitch. Juggling that and a budget that’s reportedly not massive will require some proper work and judgment. I think adding Barkley into the squad makes us better off the bench and will allow us to make the changes needed.
I’m happier than I’ve been in years we’ve got the coach and recruitment team that are capable of doing this.

Two solid players for each position.

If we want to win a trophy then the domestic trophies are our only realistic chance, so we need to take them seriously.

If we brought in a more defensive midfielder, it could mean that Luiz, Tielemans and McGinn cpuld potentially be competing for the the same spot and therefore wouldn't be playing 50-60 games each.

I would like to see McGinn able to play on the right hand side number 10 position that he played in the run-in of the 22/23 season. So I think bringing in a DM would be fine, especially with the Kamara situation.

For all you fans of people who like a bit plane spotting, there’s been “unusual level of movement” between Milan and BHX, including  significant people from Villa apparently.

Dumfries coming? Duran going? Should people get a life?

No, definitely not. They need to keep plane-spotting until the end of August. Then they can get a life.

I can't see Villa spending money before 1st July (new accounts year) but it wouldn't stop them getting their ducks in a row, but surely it wouldn't need to be done in person.

I see Everton are linked with signing Kalvin Phillips on loan.
He would be the kind of player that could fill the void left by Kamara.
It doesn't sound like he is going back to Man City, so is looking for options, i know he flunked at West Ham, but a seasons loan would be a great stop gap until Kamara is back, and without having to find a transfer fee.

Gives off Drinkwater vibes to me. Hence why he’s being linked with teams like Everton.
