I reckon McKennie will play holding mid until Kamara is back.

He never played there at Leeds. It was either Tyler Adams or Marc Roca as DM. McKennie is supposed to be a SJM type but looked terrible for Leeds which has put me right off this signing.

He was there for 8 days before they sacked Marsch, who isn’t a great manager. Only to be replaced by Javi Garcia, who isn’t a great manager, and was sacked 4 months later with 4 matches left in the season.. and he hasn’t been offered a job since.

That club was, is, and always will be a shitshow. Hard to judge McKennie for not looking like a world beater.

I think Unai will be able to use him wisely in our midfield. He’s not Chambers or the like.

Has there been any talk of us getting rid of the dead wood like Chambers and Donk? All very quiet there

There’s that stat that we ran less than any team last season, pressed less and were basically bone idle most of the time.

Maybe we will play three 8s and they kinda rotate, so one sits (rests) whilst the others press. Tactically it might make us more flexible and give us a Plan B.

?

Hope not.

Even in December we lost Kamara for those three games over xmas. Couldn't keep clean sheets v Burnley or Sheffield United and collapsed defensively at Man. United second half.

Before that it was clean sheets galore v Arsenal, Man. City etc.

With Kamara in the team last season in prem it was played 20, conceded 23.

Without him played 19, conceded 38.....

Even the first game of the season he missed away to Bournemouth we looked very shaky that day at the back and could've conceded more than twice.

You can't really dismiss those stark figures as just "Olsen in goal" or all our players were massively fatigued when you see us conceding significantly more without Bouba in December.

He needs to be replaced.

I agree with that. The priority if a replacement for Kamara.

We pretty much played with three 8s for the last half of the season but they were generally knackered. One more, in Mckennie, may give us more resilience so hopefully the alternative concedes less.

Leeds were a basket case

Regardless, McKennie isn’t really someone who can fill in for Kamara.

He'd probably do a better job than Iroegbunem or Chambers though.

Some Twitter chatter we’ve agreed a €50m fee with Chelsea for Duran.

Even with no cup progression, we are guaranteed to play 48 games next season. I think we will get enough games to give opportunities, even with a larger squad.

It will be great to make five substitutions all of absolute class. Rather than searching around the bench for someone who might be able to change a game. In Unai we trust.

48 games is a lot but not vastly different to this year right?. Probably fewer games but less gimmes like the conference league,

West Ham won the conference league by not competing in the PL (Less successful when attacking both). Newcastle got caught short and capitulated (with mitigating circumstances).

We appear to be addressing the squad size risk, just with less quality (so far).

I do wonder how McKennie will fit in especially with Unai's video meetings when McKennie has no interest in football other than playing it. He'll probably sleep through Unai's presentations, pick his nose right up to walking down the tunnel. He really doesn't sound that arsed about the finer details. At 25 he already seems to have his non-football future planned out.

Whichever way I look at it,  it seems Juventus are getting a ridiculously good deal here. I'd be much more comfortable if we had somebody to have a word in McKennie's ear..somebody like Dougie.

I think he will buy into the culture because the other players at the club already have. We have many leaders now. It’s not just the manager but coaches and top players who have gone from the bottom 4 to top 4.

TBF I think the personality is one of the big things they we would have judged - think if the attitude and fit arent right then no.  Think we're more likely to take a gamble on ability than attitude.

He never bought into Juventus.  Maybe his Harry Potter magic stick will do the trick. I'm  done with relying on magic.

I doubt Emi and SJM, as examples, will stay quiet if someone new isn't doing their job.
