I'd sell Luiz. It's just me, but I just don't like him.

Even if he leaves, Alisha will still say no.

Sometimes I wonder how much other football people watch. Granted, everyone's entitled to their opinion and all that. But I don't know - how can you watch the game in general and not notice how good Douglas Luiz was for at the very least half this season? Like, what more are you expecting?

And the second half of last season. He tailed off this year, but he was very clearly impacted by trying to fulfill a role that isn’t really his strength. He’s a brilliant midfielder and if we lost him it’d be a huge blow.

Recency bias in full effect.

If we have to sell a first team player (and I hope we don't) then it is Luiz for me. I'd prefer to keep him but if there's a gun to my head...

I’d sell McGinn before Luiz as well. Again I’d like to keep them all, but if we had to sell a “star” Doug would be high on the retain list for me.

Channelling my inner Monchi.  My proposal to Emery would be

1. Cash + Carlos + Chambers + KKH = One Player that can play CB and RB (cost and wage neutral).  That Barca CB?
2. Dendonker + Tim + Tielemans + £20m. = Zubimendi (or other young similar DCM)
3. Diaby = Williams

What a sad state of affairs they've created where we might be forced to sell a player we don't want or need to, cos some useless dweeb concocted some bollocks rules.

Before we get too pious, we were on the parties who signed up to said rules.

Now come on there. The rules exist to prevent things like an oil state buying a club at random, bankrolling it at a ludicrously unfair advantage to unprecedented levels of dominance of the English game. Imagine if the rules weren't there! Anything might happen.

Accounts-wise though, selling someone for £50m gives you the scope to add five £50m players on five year contracts and still be compliant.

Yes, in the way that getting a credit card with £250m limit allows you to spend £250m. You have to start paying it back. So next year you cant buy anyone at all. Nor the year after. Its not a sensible way to manage the FFP. Just ask Chelsea.

It’s more nuanced than that. Selling Grealish has enabled us to sign everybody since, like Pau, Bailey, Diaby, Buendia, Ings, Rogers, Duran, Digne, Carlos, Moreno, without breaching FFP, and without selling anybody else we wanted to keep. They - along with Emery of course - have catapulted us to CL qualification, which in turn will result in maybe doubling our total revenue, which means we can comfortably afford to ‘pay it back’.

I really hope we keep Dougie. Him and Kamara are brilliant.

I dont understand how selling MgGinn and Luiz even is an idea. You could make the argument that they where our two most valuable players this season that has now ended.

Well it’s not an idea. It’s debating what you’d do if Tim had to sell a star player.
