Lovely, unbiased analysis from former Arsenal player Ian Wright on MotD.

Yep.  Should have been wearing an eye patch it was that one-eyed.

On the Lower Holte concourse after the game there were people leaving singing, cheering, olé-olé-oléing. I had hairs up on the back of my neck. On the back of Wednesday's result as well as our record-breaking winning streak at home in the league, I hope it stays special. And I hope we never come to expect it, if that makes sense.

And can I just say, what a bunch of whinning tossers the Arsenal players were tonight. If the Arse aren't up on an FA charge of failing to control their players in the coming week I'll be astounded.

And their kit. Trying to look worse than their old hedgehog kit?

I stood at the bottom of the Holte Steps after the game waiting for the others. Nearly everyone was singing, it was superb.

Come on now, he's right that the handball law is "the worst law in all laws, not just football".

Much worse than laws that make homosexuality illegal, make blasphemy punishable by death and so on.

Probably in the wrong thread but I don’t care - next week I will be 74 and so I think I deserve to be cut a bit of slack

After the full time announcement (thanks PWS) I had a couple of glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon and reread the introduction to Simon Inglis’s “Villa Park 100 years - a great Midlands Sports Ground”

We must never, EVER, move away from VP

Thank you - and what a fantastic few days

We were talking about this on the way home. Completely agree. The transport links are shit and all the rest, but we cannot ever move from Villa Park to some souless bowl by the NEC. The 150 years at that location is everything and what we can hold onto.

Arteta is a huge manchild with all the attractive qualities of an anal prolapse, the thunderbird looking wankstain.

What a gritty performance.

I had a feeling we'd be attacking the Holte first half, not sure if it was our decision or Arsenal turned us round but wrong move if it was their decision.

Needed a quick start, got it and then hung on as you could tell from 30 minutes in we were gassed from the emotion of beating Man. City.

Arsenal played pretty well I thought and should've had a penalty but you're always going to get those type of games in seasons.

How good it is we've beaten two CL sides in three days 1-0 but in totally different ways? I genuinely haven't seen a Villa team with this level of game management and nous in decades, last time was probably mid 90s when only Liverpool had our number for a few seasons.

Very very exciting times!

It was handball in pre-VAR times too - he controlled the ball with his hand at least once, and probably twice without which he wouldn't have "scored".

And without VAR, the ref called it as handball, so it would have been handball anyway.

Oh my god.
I've witnessed history today.
After 35 years as a st holder.
15 home wins in a row.

Can't stand watching interviews with him and Klopp.  All smiles and magnanimous when they win, but then cry and moan when things don't go their way.

Indeed - that was weird on MOTD to refer to that and segway into the Gabriel Jesus non-pen as “seen them given” with the subtext being in the VAR world. You can’t have it both ways! In any case, what law/interpretation made Odegaard place it straight in the only place Emi can save it for one shot and then skew a shot wide with the goal at his mercy? Ok Martin, maybe you would have won had you not blown both of your big chances.
