Every single one of them was excellent today, including the subs.

It was a complete team effort  today - as it was Wednesday.

Performances like this really bond the squad. "One for all and all for one".

Unai has got everybody's buy in to his plans. They all know what they have to do and moreover appreciate that 10 mins as a sub can be as important to the result as playing the full 90.

The guys on the bench aren't bitching and moaning about not starting, but wait, knowing that when they come on, it's for a specific reason, to play their part in fulfilling the gameplan - they come on totally committed to the cause.

Now if we could get Cascarino in January...

I heard it was Sheringham we were actually after, but somehow ended up with "the other one". Casc should have buried that header vs Inter at the San Siro, still remember that to this day.

Not sure if we were after Sheringham, but he was probably a big reason Cascarino was such a good goal scorer for Millwall at the time.

The definitive story - courtesy of Sir Graham. He wanted Sherringham and got knocked back. Doug said he'd have a word with Millwall chairman "my old friend" Reg Burr. He said Sheringham wasn't available but what did Sir GT think of Cascarino? Maybe worth half a million or so, was the reply. "Next thing I know he's lined up Casacarino for £1.4 million. From then on he was my signing but Doug spotted Dwight Yorke."

Only issue with that (and not saying Sir Graham was lying about his personal valuation) is that Yanited were heavily linked with Cascarino at the end of 89 and the price being touted was £2 million.

Arteta having a Trumpton temper tantrum🤣

"clear and obvious, I will say no more on the matter"

Maybe he was confused - I agree VAR should be for clear and obvious errors, the ref made the right call so it should have been decided much quicker.

I always think that the best tactic in those circumstances is to say absolutely nothing at all.

Arteta, “Arsenal did enough to beat Aston Villa” - erm nope you didn’t, you didn’t score any goals Mikel. You need to score goals to win games.
A super ******. We absolutely did his team for speed, movement, accuracy and tenacity when we scored and then gave them 84 minutes to get an equalister.  So fuck off.

There's something oddly satisfying winning an ugly game playing ugly. Just pure grit second half and a big impact off the bench. Some fairly old school tackles and I thought Arsenal's forwards didn't fancy it as a result. Centre backs were excellent, Digne very good on Saka and McGinn a warrior. Rode our luck for sure a few times but we will take it.
Martinez 6 - very mixed second half, should have sent Cash & Havertz into ER when that last ball went in. Think he gets a bit ratty against Arsenal.
Konsa 4 - started ok but couldn't cope with Martinelli due to fatigue
Carlos 8 - I was ending his PL career after Bournemouth...solid out tonight
Torres 8 - very impressive with and without ball
Digne 8 - dealt with Saka really well, some turnaround this season
Kamara 4 - similar to Konsa really, barely got a kick second half until getting hooked
Luiz 6 - very quiet first half with Odegaard stuck to him. Improved a lot in second but that was an idiotic yellow for a suspension
Bailey 6 - cracking assist but didn't return from break
Tielemans 4 - couldn't get into the game at all and no surprise when he was hooked early
Watkins 5 - tried hard but very little change from Arsenal CBs

Cash, Moreno and Diaby were all very lively. Looking forward to seeing Moreno starting v Brentford. Excellent pass from Diaby to Watkins for a decent chance. Donk got stuck in but passing a big struggle...Ramsey a bit meh again but finished ok

We’ve just beaten the league leaders. Nobody gets under a 6 for me.

Probably aged about 10 years, but I don't care, under the circumstances that was every bit as good as Wednesday and we now have achieved something no other Villa team has done in 135 years of us playing league football, absolutely brilliant Villa and Unai and his staff.

Yesssss !!
15 wins
A brilliant effort from the whole squad today.
There were some misplaced passes and tiredness but the character , determination and winning mentality saw us take the win

Absolutely class!
Gosh I love this team and the manager is just a joy!!

Given the magnitude of the win against Man City and the way we won, today's win was equally remarkable.

Whilst one or two understandably started to flag in the 2nd half, it was amazing how John McGinn was able to turn in another excellent supercharged performance.

It was noticeable how we mixed up the longer ball with playing out from the back. It wasn't necessarily successful in building play or ball retention, but it kept Arsenal thinking and mitigated an increasing risk against their high pressing.
