A whoosh is a whoosh my friend, and I've been whooshed.
It’s ok, being a classical man you don’t mix with common culture.

It'd be, in a way, like that Xmas (1989-90?) where we beat Man United at home and then Arsenal. What a fucking Xmas that was.

I’d been living down south for a while and those two games were my first for some time. Both great wins and then beat Chelsea away on the New Year’s Day I think.
This does feel a lot like that season to me, let’s hope it continues tomorrow.

Arteta was full of praise for us in his press conference, praising Unai, the coaching staff and players, also said VP was one his favourite grounds and great atmosphere to play football.

Having spoken to quite a few mates this week who saw the Man City game (it seems Amazon matches get seen by WAY more neutrals than Sky ones), I fear we're so well-liked at the moment we're in danger of becoming everyone's *shudder* "second favourite team"...

On the Scottish football Forum I go on, they're all efusive in their praise for us and saying we are the best team to watch in the Prem.

I speak to people all over the place and it's well known across the company that I'm a Villa fan (I'm not shy about it, Villa reference sneak into pretty much every presentation or demo I do) so people talk to me about football a lot, almost everyone thinks we're one of the best teams to watch right now, the amount who've suddenly woken up on how good Luiz is amazes me as well.

I remember when you worked in Norway and would always update us with their thoughts on articles about Villa. I also remember thinking that, if I was working with a Norwegian and he kept sending me links to Valarenga pieces I’d wrap them around his fucking Trondheim!

After that full dress rehearsal on Wednesday, I expect we've ironed out all the kinks in training and are fully prepared for today's Lord Mayor's Show.

I was at both games. I think we lost to Wimbledon 3-0 in the next home game, unless that was a bit later?

Wimbledon was a couple of months later. Game after these was a 3-0 away win at Chelsea on New Years Day I think.

Ah, ok. I had it in my head it was a game or two after. T'was a long time ago though.

My only other memory of that Arsenal game was Tony Adams being in prison at the time but again, that might have been a different one.

Remember it all well, I was 15. Grew up in Hockley and used to get the number 8 bus to Aston and walk through the park and used to stand on the left side of the Holte as you face the pitch. For the Arsenal game i got to the ground and realised I’d lost my money en route, so had to go home, gutted. Was at the boxing day mauling of Man Utd and at that point that was the most rocking I’d ever seen Villa Park, even the Trinity were roaring.

My older brother was a lifelong Chelsea supporter and he managed to get me a ticket for the away there on New Years Day, another mauling. On the drive back to Brum we were getting reports on the radio of the later kick off game where Forest drew with Liverpool. At that point on the way back I really started to believe we could win the league.

Today feels massive now.

Wimbledon was straight after we’d beaten Spurs comprehensively at White Hart Lane to go clear at the top, wasn’t it?

Platt was sensational in those two games 89/90.

Buzzing for tonight, what an occasion it should be. How many years have we waited for a team like this to come together?!

I wonder if Cash will come back in tonight to mark their left winger? More than likely be the same starting XI.

COYL!!

It may have been. Spurs was a midweek game (I think Ormondroyd got one goal) so it's possible Wimbledon was the following game.
