Left wing. He has played centre forward but it’s definitely not his natural position

I think Duran is a phenomenal talent, but I think he is pretty immature (he's young, after all) and judging by his performance with West Ham over the summer, the first hint of someone like Man United being interested in him, he's going to start up with that bullshit again, but x 100.

I don't want to sell him, I want to keep him AND Watkins (or a better player should that be possible), but he doesn't strike me as the sort of player we could ever hope to build a team around, as he's so temperamental.

We'll end up selling him for Ł80m in the summer.

Yep, he gives off slight Mario Balotelli vibes.

Thanks. That's absolutely what I mean, only you've done it in less than 10 words. Precisely that.

You both summed it up excellently and i agree with your post paulie. I think thats my thoughts too.

I dont think he will be as hard to replace as people think

Indeed. Strikers who score a goal every 80mins or so in the Premier League are ten a penny.

He's one of the best strikers around, he's young and he'll get better. And we're talking about selling him. Sometimes I despair.

Get two excellent forwards, discuss how we can sell both. Mad.

Yep the only discussion we should be having is will we ever be able to play them both successfully in the same team.

I don't think it's corruption, either. Just incompetence and inconsistency.

Exactly this.  I suspect over a season every club feels like they’re the victims of the ref’s incompetence/corruption etc.  On 19 occasions we find it hilarious.

It’s not a strong selling point but the shite-ness of the refs adds to the plot of the premier league.

That is the point, when you continually see inexplicable decisions then you start drawing conclusions. They really can not be this shit can they?

So he misses 3 home games Brighton , Leicester , West Ham . Watkins really should be filling his boots with goals or assists in these 3 games . Let's hope he doesn't get injured or it might be Louie Barry time .

I’d be surprised if Louie Barry kicked a ball for us this season.
So would I , just saying if Watkins gets injured we are stuffed for a few weeks for a Nr 9 .

Ah ok. I think you’d probably see Rogers up front in that scenario.

Although he's only one booking away from a ban.

Being out for the next 3 games is exactly the reason we need to keep 2 top strikers on board, more if there’s a useful young prospect coming through

Absolutely. Any talk of getting rid of either Ollie or Duran is ridiculous when a suspension or an injury to one of them leaves us with no other options up front. You don’t see teams like Liverpool talking about getting rid of Salah, Nunez or Gakpo.

Literally nobody has said we should get rid of either of them.

There literally has been talk about either of them being sold on this thread and the Ollie thread...or is it just the phrase “getting rid” (ie selling/moving on for profit) that you’re objecting to? There’s even posts above mine, including one from DW, referring to the same ridiculous comments.

natural human bias has to play a part in some of the refs decisions it has to, it doesn’t mean it’s corrupt just means its subjective and sometimes unfair

Take the Duran red card,
If someone like Son, Palmer, Bowen, Watkins, De Bruyne have exactly the same coming together you say there’s no intent no red
Now if it’s Vardy, Romero, Mee, Joelinton or dare I say it Jhon Durán are in the same situation you see it a bit differently, because you know they’ve all got it in them to be hot headed and aggressive

You might not agree with the names I’ve used so use your own but the point remains

Completely agree with this, good post. Subconscious bias is at work in so many aspects of life. It just becomes very noticeable in a game of small margins. I’d also add to this - it’s not just those examples you named and their reputations, it’d be things like the personality of managers, hostility of crowds, reaction in the media.

I don’t think refs are corrupt and thinking ‘I need to get man utd a win here’. But as infallible humans, something in their psyche surely takes note of how Fergie will respond or what the media will do to scrutinise their decision.
