I also still think he’s done it on purpose and it’s a red, even if Alan Shearer does think differently (then again, he didn’t think kicking Neil Lennon in the face was a red either).

Even if I’m wrong, I prefer us being better than moaning about it, particularly on social media. Should be beneath us.

Yep that’s my view - we had our right of appeal, it didn’t go our way, just suck it up and move on, at least publicly.
If we want to have a discussion in the background around the process that’s fine. Having senior figures reiterating something that’s already very clear (we don’t agree with the red) on social media is just a bit petty and ultimately pointless.

You're really missing the point. It's not ultimately pointless. As paul_e said earlier in the thread, it clearly fucking works.

It’s not just about moaning about it, but sticking up for a young lad, one of our own, who some people may have already decided he’s guilty before watching it a second time and thinking, actually, was he intentionally trying to hurt someone? I really believe he didn’t mean to harm, therefore why such a long ban?

As I said earlier he probably didn’t mean it but he needs to learn to not even get imto such controversies. I am hoping this is just part of his education

Hopefully Jhon will learn from this

Yes. He should learn where to place his foot, unbalanced running full speed, while being tackled and being kicked in the balls.

Does it? Not sure how you prove it really. More likely if it’s down to inconsistency you end up on the right side sometimes and the wrong side sometimes.

Man Utd are clearly missing a trick. If only Jason Wilcox had spent his evening getting into a slanging match with @MolineuxMad then they'd find their fortunes moving in the right direction.

Unfortunately I agree with Paul_e.

I don’t want to but I don’t think we have any choice.  We need to start acting like the wanky sky 6 clubs.

The are huge errors every game and all var has done is become an excerise in justifying the referees decisions - this time against the laws of physics.  When the newcastle player also left one on him.

We’re down to 1 striker - and the reason for that is we aren’t allowed more due to FFP.

We’ve been screwed by the ref in the last game - screwed by ffp this season and we should be bloody fuming.

Every generation we have had a chance to establish ourselves as part of the elite - and everytime after a brief flirt with success we meekly go back to being also runs.

This is our opportunity and we’re being held back by rules that are frankly unfair, anti-competitive, illogical. And there is a very real risk if we keep being meek we end up missing the boat

Does any serious think if that was Salah that would have played out like this
If that was Salah the ref would have carded Scharr

I think Duran is a phenomenal talent, but I think he is pretty immature (he's young, after all) and judging by his performance with West Ham over the summer, the first hint of someone like Man United being interested in him, he's going to start up with that bullshit again, but x 100.

I don't want to sell him, I want to keep him AND Watkins (or a better player should that be possible), but he doesn't strike me as the sort of player we could ever hope to build a team around, as he's so temperamental.

We'll end up selling him for £80m in the summer.

He's somewhat of a 'loose cannon', to put it mildly.

Booting the water bottles over, booting the subs bench the other week are unnecessary incidents that will go against him. I agree , reckon he'll be off in the summer for whatever the release clause is . Be decent funds for Emery / Monchi to reinvest .

It's a fine balancing act to help him mature while keeping all of the madness that makes him the player he is. He does things naturally that others never even think of. Yes he has to keep his temper. But the sending off wasn't justified and just as he got his place in the side he will be out three games. I can see why he was upset at that moment and he will be more so after the appeal was turned down. If Ollie takes advanatge Duran will be back on the bench. Duran has worked really hard to be where he is and it's a real shame he could have that development interupted by this error by the officials.

He clearly wares his heart of his selve - but he is the best talent that’s come through since at least grealish.  I think under the right coach (like unai) he will be a world class striker.

I don’t think what happened was deliberate.  I think the club have shown him the support it can.

I would be very sad to see him go as I think he is a generational talent - and I think we’re managing him well

Yeah this is a good summary - of all the players we’ve seen throw a stroop this was one of the most acceptable

So he misses 3 home games Brighton , Leicester , West Ham . Watkins really should be filling his boots with goals or assists in these 3 games . Let's hope he doesn't get injured or it might be Louie Barry time .

I’d be surprised if Louie Barry kicked a ball for us this season.
