Criticism of the keeper detracts from Duran's assured audacity in executing the shot. So few players would have tried that, the goalie was expecting it as much as most people watching were - ie not at all.

Taking shots early with power and swerve is proving really potent for him, I hope it continues as I don't think I've enjoyed such a sight ending in the back of the net as a Villa fan since Collymore (all too briefly) and Dalian.

Whoever scouted him should get an extra slice of turkey for Christmas dinner.

I think Johan Lange was instrumental in signing him. He's at Spurs now with our former loans manager Mile Jedinak.

Another moment when he goes to shoot and i am thinking’ not from there’ 😳😃

I even murmured out loud 'no' only to see it fly into the net.

He reminds me of Dalian but with more work rate- that goal yesterday I had flash backs to Dalian’s goal vs Sunderland all those years ago even though that was deflected. I think Duran deserves a chance but at the same time I wouldn’t say Ollie’s time is up, he was having a decent first half I thought and has hit seven league goals already, he just scores in streaks. Duran needs to be hitting the net with quantity as opposed to quality but I think he has it in him for sure.

He’s turning in to a superstar in front of our eyes. He’s not there yet (though he’s very, very good already), but I could see him being considered one of the greatest strikers ever one day.

He’s just … nobody does the stuff he can do. He’s an incredible player. The amount he’s improving this season, he’s becoming a much more complete player.

It’d be madness to sell him or Ollie. Any other club would be biting their arm off to even have 1 striker who can consistently get 15 goals a season, like Ollie can, let alone have 2 players in that bracket.

Are we currently seeing a really talented, young striker benefiting from Watkins running defenders ragged for 50-70 minutes? I’ve no doubt that he’s going to be brilliant but Southampton aside, he’s often struggled to make an impact from the start.

Obviously we’re soon going to reach the point where he’s going to get fed up at not starting. Which might be now, I don’t know.

What a brilliant goal he scored against RB Leipzig and he's only going to get better.

He seems to be way better as a sub, so let's bring him on in the 2nd minute going forward.

Couple of times we went long, he was winning the first header well, so I think we should plan for that tactic more when in a pinch. ie, have Morgan or someone ready to run for the knock-on rather then the knock down.

His first league start this season was against Southampton. He also started against Bologna and scored. And started in both the EFL matches and scored.
