glad I no longer live in either.

I love living in Birmingham, but each to their own.

Yes, it’s ace.

I remember back when Man U had Yorke and Cole and Sheringham and Solskjaer. If the ones on the pitch weren't doing it, the others came on and got it done.

We're in a world of lone strikers now, but it's the same situation. A team can defend for an hour against the starter, but then we can bring on someone just as dangerous for them to deal with.

Solskjaer is probably the perfect comparison (not in style obviously) but most of his goals seemed to be from sub appearances and he didn't seem to do too well as a starter. (I'm sure Dave or someone else will have stats showing that perception was wrong).

Nah, that's a level of nerdy contrarianism that even I won't stoop to.

Tore Andre Flo for Chelsea always seemed to be a "super sub" as well.

I won't be complaining if he comes on to score the winner for us in the 93rd minute of the Champions League final.

In the premier league: 60 sub appearances 13 goals. Leaving 175 games in which he started, scoring 78.
So like every other player, his goals to games ratio was far better when he was starting.

I felt at the time we should have accepted the 35m to west ham at the time as i was annoyed at his behaviour with west ham video. But thats why they are there  and i am here 😂

Its worked out well as he has scored some crucial goals already for us and the 40m is going to just go up. Does anyone know how longs left on his contract?

4 games in 10 days on the horizon so he will be getting lots of minutes / opportunities to shine .

Probably a good thing that we didn't just give him away to West Ham really.

Good news.

Where does this come from?

From the Daiy Mirror

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-duran-33630165

I think this might be from a quote from Monchi, who talked about interest from 40 clubs, but didn't make clear whether this was this summer, the competition when we bought him, or over the 18 months we've had him.  It could be 40 clubs saying "what are the chances of a loan?"

Either way, it's good we've got him and that he's (hopefully) a bit more settled this season.  He's going to cause problems for a lot of defences this season...
