I thought his hold up play was average enough yesterday. But he can do it, at West Ham he was excellent. Brilliant header and rolled that defender nicely for his other chance. Daft tackle for the yellow, I guess that's what you get with him.

There's zero chance Emery is dropping Watkins anytime soon, and neither should he.  As soon as one of the chances goes in he'll be fine.

Duran's getting more minutes than he did last year already and the balance is about right.

I was just thinking to myself it's rare to see Watkins taken off at the 60 minute mark. It would not have happened last season, winning or losing. It may simply be a case that he's still not fully fit, but Duran has definitely made the most of his opportunities so far, and even when Watkins is fit and scoring again, the amount of games we have means he will need to be taken off at that point in a lot of games.

exactly this. Anyone expecting Watkins to be dropped for the Prem and ECL games will be disappointed.
Duran does not have the overall game Watkins has. Impact sub suits JD

WHAM! fans were all laughing at getting one over on us by refusing to give in to our greed and lumping us with a player we didn’t want while they got a cheaper alternative in Fullkrug.

I know who I’d rather have.

Hopefully the big man is starting to feel the love of the crowd too.

🙄

So lets say he has 10 rubbish games in a row doesnt score but duran keeps scoring? You still starting him or is that "knee jerk rubbish" as well?

This is a team game not a individual one. You play the best players and best form players.

Maybe he’s our Kane when Kane plays for England,
undroppable even if he’s not scoring out of form or even carrying an injury

Much as I like Duran I have doubts that he would last a full match without being sent off.

Starting a player in form for one who isn’t doesn’t strike me as especially ‘knee jerk’.

I'd stick with Ollie personally for now. Like someone said yesterday, he presses really well and it's how we play. He'll ve amongst the goals again soon.

There’s fair arguments to be made for both though, surely. I mean, if he did start Duran, picking a player with 2 goals in 3 is hardly a sign of madness.

Let's play both. Fuck it, it's only Everton.
