My big worry is that when Ollie does get an injury it will be a big one. In his 8 full seasons as a pro first teamer he's missed 12 league games, which is bonkers. And that's when we'll need JD and someone else that can cover JD, or to come on when we need a goal.

I could see Brentford coming in for Duran if they manage to get big money for Toney.

Good shout. Toney is the one top centre-forward today that he puts me in mind of. And Jhon would get his move to London, albeit west-side.

Hope not, though.

Brentford still scored goals without him last season and have since spent fifty odd million on Igor Thiago and Fabio Carvalho - it feels like they've already done their Toney replacing.

Chelsea really should have kept their interest in him, they'd probably have paid us what we wanted, and they're so poor upfront.

glad I no longer live in either.

I love living in Birmingham, but each to their own.

Saying they “live in East London” isn’t the insult it once was.

It’s as relevant an insult as “living in Birmingham”.

If they live in East London they should support their local team, Walford Town. Bloody gloryhunters.

I was about to reply citing Clapton FC and Leyton Orient, when I realised you hadn’t put ‘Watford’!

Oi oi!

I saw the Cockney Rejects last year
They rattled off half a dozen songs in the first seven or eight minutes

Westham youtube site ("sometimes in the know" - his words) talking about Duran 10.15 in. Apparently move could still have legs?

Definitely, maybe, not, bollocks.

Be suprised if this happens now afted he scored, his gesture about staying and having no one lined up (dont believe we are in for toney)

Jhon Durán has now scored six Premier League goals from just 616 minutes played in the competition, an average of one every 103 minutes; among players to have scored 5+ Premier League goals, only Erling Haaland (85) has averaged a better minutes to goals rate.

The problem with duran is he does most of his damage as a sub. When he has started he really taken those opportunities.  Thats where he needs to improve on his game

Another Emery masterclass.
A young player who "is a handful", makes noises about wanting to leave, takes it a step further, alienating himself from the fans by making a hand gesture suggesting he will be moving to the interested club.
Emery and Villa refuse to sell, Emery has a word in his ear and gives him the no. 9 shirt, brings him on as a substitute for the first choice striker, letting everyone know the pecking order, he scores the winner, apologises to the fans and indicates he is staying.

I mean, most managers would have just kicked him out and taken the money.
Unai Emery has managed to turn the situation around completely, the player is happy, the squad seem happy (judging by how they celebrated with him), the fans are happy.
What a manager we have on our hands.
Looking forward to seeing the upward trajectory of Jhon Duran now.

Edit: and if he still ends up going the price has just gone up
