He did a clear gesture after scoring "I am staying!", which obviously means he is not with the team back on the bus and signing with West Ham

He might have meant it literally? As in he's staying in London.

Isn’t that the exact joke Edvard was making?
Yup :)

Reading some of the same West Ham blogs saying that they were leaving Villa with a poor attitude, poor performing sulk artist & they hoped that our season would implode for having the audacity to not lower the price for Duran was interesting today.

Apparently some Villa fans need to learn how to win with grace when they went back on their blog comment section & highlighted that the Duran who had just scored against them was the same Duran that "they" had left us with.

Plus the same old comment about being miserable because we have to live in Birmingham.

The very same people making those comments who live in the East of London... 😂

Makes Duran scoring the winner all the more the sweeter.

Saying they “live in East London” isn’t the insult it once was.

If the stories about him being messed around by West Ham in the summer are true, then the stars and McGrath truly aligned for Duran yesterday.

We can’t be solely reliant upon Ollie this season, and his performance yesterday more than showed that he can step up when required. His apology/gesture to the fans was also appreciated, so if he can knuckle down for the team then he will be a great asset to have this season, and we’d be wrong to sell him at this point.

Archer showed that moving to a shit club and getting more minutes can do little for your career. Duran will play a lot more for us than 10 or 15 mins here or there this season.
This. We’ll be playing at least 50 games this season. That’s the absolute minimum if we get knocked out of every competition at the earliest possible moment. There’s not a single one of our players, even Martinez, who could play every game plus international fixtures. Big Jhon keeps his head down, he’ll get plenty of games and at a higher level than he could elsewhere.

It's a big call, but he has the highest potential I've ever seen from a Villa centre forward. Atkinson, Yorke, Angel, Carew, Benteke, Watkins. Some great Villa players there, but he could genuinely be the best in the world if he applies himself. 40m is too low for me and West Ham have had a shocker signing a 31-year-old journeyman instead of forking out an extra few million.

Not sure I'd be happy with 50m tbh. Hope he stays and applies himself.

I don’t think his proposed sale was anything to do with his potential and ability but more to do with him being a bit of a loon

I don't think it had anything to do with us actually wanting to sell him. He manifested it all by himself and we were in a position where we may have had to let him go if the right offer had come in. It didn't and we seem more than happy to keep him.

UE has spoken to him at length and given him the number 9 shirt. The manager obviously sees his huge potential. He has to stay! We're light as it is with striker options.

Saying they “live in East London” isn’t the insult it once was.

It’s as relevant an insult as “living in Birmingham”.

If they live in East London they should support their local team, Walford Town. Bloody gloryhunters.

I could see Brentford coming in for Duran if they manage to get big money for Toney.
