I mentioned this in the pre season thread, but given there are players who actually played in the summer tournaments back with us, and playing, is it odd that he's not?

Or is there a specific rule that forbids him from coming back even if he was just part of the Colombia squad but never played?

I would guess everybody is entitled to a few weeks off. If you're away with a team that gets to a final, you're training everyday and not on holiday. I would think even the England players who didn't play much/at all would have got the same time off as everybody else.

Yeah, whether they play or not, they're still 'on duty'. Everyone deserves some time to relax with family and friends, especially those playing on another continent.

Three weeks seems to be the minimum.

Maatsen has been with us for a few weeks now, hasn't he? And Netherlands made it to the SFs. Maybe it's up to the player too, how long they want off, and signing for a new club maybe he wanted to be there for as much of preseason as he could, to settle in and what not.

I guess we'll find out soon enough what's happening with Duran.

They all pulled-up at Bodymoor an hour ago, it's cool.

I assume he'll be back at the same time as Emi, as they were both in the final.

Yeah, the Netherlands played on the 10th July, and Maatsen joined the squad the week commencing the 22nd and played on the 27th.

If Duran, Konsa, Watkins and Martinez weren't playing in the final US game, there wouldn't have been much point in meeting the rest of the squad there. I assume they'll rejoin the team when they're back in England.

The only team who seemed to have forced their "finals" player in is Chelsea with the racist singer. But I wonder if that is down to a punishment / trying to get all the fallout of his actions sorted early.

He'll be gone by August 31st. May well be on a loan to buy, somewhere in mainland Europe, a Zaniolo type move  I reckon.

I think he'll be gone August 18th, straight after we play West Ham.
it looks like West Ham have signed Fullkrug, you think they also buy Duran ?

Its just the rumours haven't gone away despite signing Fulkrug.

Well their CF options appear to currently be Antonio and Ings, neither of which are getting any younger, or more mobile. If I were a WHU fan, I think Id want another one in.

I was surpised to read Fulkrug was in his 30s and they're happy to spend that amount, given they've ended-up giving us £15m for a half-shot Ings in the past 12-18 months.

You do wonder if West Ham are involved in some elaborate 'Brewsters Millions' type game where they have to waste cash on aging players.
