Basically my view is that he’s a big talent and I’d like us to keep him. BUT if he is going to continuously agitate (passively or otherwise) then he should go. However, we identified and took a not insubstantial punt on him and we deserve to be paid. If Chelsea want him like others have said it should be £50m +.

He's definitely like Balotelli, the question is whether Emery will tolerate that. The other thing is that if he wants to go, then let him.

I wouldn't take a penny less than £50m plus add ons for him. He's clearly got a huge amount of talent, and clearly has ability to do it under pressure. Right moment, right club, he's going to be one of the very best, if he wants to be.

I sympathise with this view, it’s just that I’ve not seen him do anything like Ollie’s assist for Tielemans v Liverpool or for Diaby v Bournemouth. Finishing is a massive part of the game, and a rare skill, it’s just that I haven’t seen him do anything else.

If his agent is going to act like this in every window it’s going to be nothing but trouble. I’d say sell him on and try and get as much as possible for him.

I have a feeling that’s what will happen and Emery will be happy to let him go. A potential talent maybe but I don’t think he will be able to settle unless he’s playing regularly.

But were they doing what Duran is when they were 20. Ollie had just finished a loan in the Conference South for example.

I get the feeling that Duran isn’t a good personality behind the scenes, so if Duran himself or his agent are agitating for a move to Chelsea then fuck him off (as long as they pay up whatever ridiculously high price we set for him or strike a deal for Gallagher if he’s the type of player that Emery would be interested in).

The romance of the JPA welcome video seems a long while ago now.

I like Duran as a player. He is a very reliable back-up- in a way the perfect back-up as he is a different player to Watkins.

But, we are a happy camp now and we all know how this sort of thing can create friction. If he wants out get as much as we can

He's a bit of a loose cannon and not Champions League / Top 4 level . Isolated flashes aren't going to be enough. Sell . And if its Chelsea rinse them .

I'd like Duran to stay, but it must be pretty miserable being back up to the indestructible Ollie Watkins.

But if he wants gametime surely Chelsea isn't the answer.  You'd think somewhere like Brighton, Wolves, West Ham or even Man U for a season or two would make more sense career wise.

Agree,
Even Palace would be a good move. We could even do a deal to bring in Olise or Eze.

He only has to look at Benteke to see how a wrong move can ruin a career.

Didn't Benteke end up at Palace .
Anyway Duran would not get in ahead of Mateta   .

Mateta is a weird one, over two and a half years of being shit at Palace and then turned into Messi for the last three and a half months.

It’s a good point, without a doubt.

I haven't checked, but doesn't the form coincide with the new manager coming in & implementing his ideas?

If it was just a case of him wanting to play more, we could probably work out some kind of loan to a decent club and have it be a mutually beneficial move. If he just wants to go to Chelsea (or similar ilk), then it's a different thing entirely.
