I haven’t watched anything back but should be have done better with the later header?

Yeah. I forgive him though.

The header or the attempt at an overhead.

Just goes to show how a lot of goals come down to fine margins. We could have had 2 or 3 more, and so could they.

Because of his age he’s probably worth more than Watkins now in an open market

And we were touting this boy to any and everybody in the window gone by …..I shudder.

The club weren't, it was only a few dim bulbs on here desperate for him to go and for us to replace him with Brighton's reserve striker for double the price.

Yep. The club were absolutely doing the wrong thing not selling him apparently.

I'll just point out Duran also didn't get booked and he came on in a "noice" time.

Radio 5 commentary of the goal

https://x.com/m7rni/status/1835057470546268489?s=46

I haven't heard an Irishman that ecstatic about a South American's prowess since my last trip to Brasil.
I thought it was the other way round ;)

He wishes.

I'll openly admit I wouldn't have batted an eyelid if we sold him this summer but I'm wrong about a lot of things

Its a great option to have but duran is going to need starts soon. You cant keep a player of that quality on the bench without him wanting a transfer.

Its a good problem to have now but as the season progresses he will want more starts. Without question the game i would be looking at is Wycombe

I think he's earned a chance at starting. The Wycombe game is probably as good an option as we're going to get. It's relatively low risk, we really should be wining it, but other than being embarrassing to lose, it's not that important. It's a good chance to see if he can stick to the script for 90 minutes.

When pretty much everyone, include your team mates, are basically saying "wow, holy shit" you know you scored a stunner.

I haven't seen him that shocked since he caught me in bed with his missus.

It must be gutting to find out your wife's on the game. Winking chap.

Not sure if it's already been posted, the top 4 PL minutes per goal are

                     PL Goals    Mins per goal

1. Haaland          72               79
2. Big Jhon            8               88.4
3. Aguero           184              107.9
4. Henry             175              121.8

That's not bad company to be in.

To be fair almost all of those who said that Villa should have accepted one of the offers that was made were also saying if Duran made a good start to the season he'd be forgiven in a second.
