Or 'When the Hammers are scoring, and the Bobby Moore are roaring' doesn't quite sound right.
Where's Sendo when you need him? Nevermind.

Well they could have used the East or the West Stand if it was a modern song, which it isn't.

Signed for Villa the Polish Cafu
Down the right and he loves to attack
And he goes by the name of Matty cash🎶

Love from Alkmaar.

Do the East or West stands ever roar? That said it looks like for once you are right, West Ham claim it's an old 'un from the 60s.

Do you not remember them singing it in the 60s? You must have been well into your 30s by then.

I think you're confusing me with Percy. I'm the well dressed one.

Well the original song is from the 40/50s isn't it? Gene Kelly.

I thought the 'you can stick your fucking bubbles up your arse' against West Ham was particularly melodic.

I remember from way back when, when it was regular to hear ' Come on you Lions, Come on you Lions' ad nauseam.  I can't remember the last time I heard it. A simple ditty but when the Villa were on the rampage it was something to behold.

Bells is a proper old school Villa song and most of us of a certain age have fond memories of it. Not sure how well it works in 2023 though.

Spot on.

It's not that old school though is it, early 90s saw it's inception I think? maybe it was late 80's.

Much earlier, Bren. I've mentioned it before but we sang TBAR non-stop on the Sutton Lions coach all the way back from Norwich in 84.

Oh and we won..

Sang it for ages in the second half too. Villa everywhere that night. A bit different from the FA Cup replay just before. About 250 of us that night.

Another one of the Sutton/Falcon Lodge /Alum Rock crew some happy times on that coach and good people

Once that Matty Cash song is in your head it’s going nowhere.

The Villa Slasher struck that night if I remember correctly. We got there early and found a snooker hall with bar open and completely unmanned like the Mary Celeste. We helped ourselves to free beer until about 5 o’clock when we all settled down to watch Grange Hill on the telly, for which we needed 50p pieces to watch. That tells you about our ages, apart from having Groombridge with us. We were in awe of him.

I agree. It was in my head for about 48 hours after Legia away.

That and the “oh what a night” song will be my ear worms for days.

Trying too hard to get something to be adopted is cringeworthy, though the thought of the Holte End giving full voice to "The Impossible Dream" does make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. UTV.

I’d love to hear this belted out in the Holte too, think it wouldsound amazing and wouldn’t really need to change the lyrics.

I really hope the one that was on a flag recently is captured by the fans and belted out to the tune of Let it Be

"Speaking words of wisdom, Emery - Emery,Emery, Emery, Emery..speaking words of wisdom Emery"
