I'd find it really jarring to hear Emery swear too, but I suspect he's incredibly ruthless.

Ruthless but not nasty.

I've always wondered how the conversations go in scenarios like this, especially when the boss is somebody as nice as Emery. Two years ago Moreno was Unai's first signing, and now he can't get in the squad and is off to Forest.

It's not even that long ago, January last year, shows you how things can change quickly.

I was all for Digne leaving last summer if we could save on his wages and get someone in to back-up Moreno but fair fucks to to Lucas, he really knuckled down and proved his worth last season.

I get the impression Unai sat down with Moreno and Digne and said, we have 3 LBs this season, we need to reduce wages due to PSR etc', so we will be looking at one of you leaving, either of you have a preference to leave?
Moreno was probably more open to a move based on his wifes reported homesickness for Spain, he probably thought some good offers would come in and he could choose which one suited the most.
It all seems very amicable anyway, i suspect the Diego Carlos situation is being handled the same way, ask if any players are open to moving on first, and then work with them so all parties are happy.
That would be typical Emery, i don't think he's the kind of manager to freeze someone out, or bomb squad them.
The fact that Moreno is moving to Nottingham instead of Spain is a bit strange, maybe his wife likes lace.

I suppose it’s something players understand as when they join it is is often at the expense of another player. So, he’s been replaced at Villa but will likely be doing the same to a Forest player.

We've sold full backs to Forest before , Eric Lichaj springs to mind and Ricardo Scimecha though he was more CB playing FB like Konsa does .

Eric Lichaj! His wife was on Come Dine With Me a few years ago, I seem to recall. And Scimeca was also played as a striker wasn't he, when JG decided to alienate Collymore.

Yeah, Leehigh was a decent sort.

Scimeca's family ran a restuarant in Leamington Spa, not sure if PaulieWalnuts used to frequent and was brave enough to speak to them.

There's no two without three as they say in Spain, so there must be another Villa-Right Back who has dabbled in commercial gastronomy.

I thought Scimeca's family place was on the Cov Rd not far from the airport?

It was, La Caverna, gone now, it was very good. Used to take the wife there after I was in the dog house.

I reckon a loan makes sense as another PL team are in a position likely to be able to cover all of his wages so we can bring someone else in and still adhere to the UEFA 80% rule.

Yep down the road from where I lived.

Ricky went to same schools as me but he was 3 years younger.

Not a right back but Julian Joachim used to own a Chinese restaurant in Leicester.

Steve Bruce ate a whole restaurant when he was Villa manager too.

He was also tearing up the Warwickshire pub league circuit as an attacking midfielder until a couple of years back according to a mate who was rinsed by him a couple of times a season.

And might still be tearing it up to this day.
