You're welcome to disagree. But no one would be saying we're still in 3 competitions if we were 14th. Even though we technically would be it's not how the term is used in a football sense.

(As do I for resurrecting Emery's page from where it was)When was the last time we were still in three competitions at the beginning of April?Never, in my memory. 1996 is nearest as we won the League Cup on 24 March but lost the FA cup semi final to Liverpool on 31 March and whilst we finished 4th in the League we were not in the reckoning for a CL place. We are not really in three competitions now. The battle for 5th isn’t a recognised competition

Of course we’re still in 3 competitions. Finishing 1st isn’t the only position which results in an outcome. The higher up the league, the bigger the prize. We’re clearly still in the competition.
The boss Unai Emery: "Even when they [players] are sleeping they have to think football and wake-up thinking football. Now is the moment. It is our responsibility to be as good as possible. If they are going to a party or travelling to London, they are not focusing on football."

‘Now is the moment’ Those four words coming from Emery feel incredibly exciting.
