Ramsey is a superb player and will keep on improving as long as he stays fit. We’re such a better team when he’s firing. He’s powerful, he’s got a decent touch, can pick out a pass and generally hits the target when he has the chance. We’d be bonkers to cash in on him and I’d be gutted.

Ramsey is 'home grown' and 'trained at club' which is pretty important if we are going to be in Europe.

A fit and firing Ramsey is better than Rogers, in my opinion.

That might be in the category of a "hot take"!

You've clearly not been watching Ramsey over the years and particularly his recent form.

He is exceptionally good.

We are a much much better team when Ramsey is fit and firing, all our intricate ones two’s around the box, working better when he’s driving into the opposition penalty area.

Nope, I'd agree with our little orange fella.

He's not being edgy on purpose!

Absolutely, the opening goal against Celtic highlighted this to perfection.

I’m a huge fan of JJ too. I just wish he could get a full season in and we’d really find out.

Yeah, that is the big issue.

Absolutely. He's looked half the player on the left with his back to goal. Get him facing goal and there are few better. Blessed are the ball carriers.

I do wonder if Uncle Unai will drop him to accommodate Rashford in his favoured and most effective position, another who struggles with his back to goal but give him space to run with the ball can be lethal.

He was beyond appalling at Wolves last weekend in terms of very recent form. A fit and firing JJ is unfortunately a very rare sight. On his day can be outstanding, Liverpool away comes to mind before he broke down. Even v West Ham. But his first touch needs a lot of work before he can be a truly elite player. Pace, power, workrate, shooting ability - so much going for him. Our left backs miss him a lot when he isn't there.

Rogers might be a bit more resilient than JJ I think and that could be key to seeing which of them goes further. Needs to learn to protect the ball a bit better, for a player with his physique that shouldn't be difficult to address. Deceptively quick, powerful and good striker of a ball like JJ too.

Better than Rogers though? Not sure about that. I think they’re different players to be honest, and both great talents, but if I had to pick one to have the higher ceiling I’d go Rogers.

I think Ramsey if he can stay fit would be better.  His finishing and decision making is better - and at his best he looks effortless.  By and large, we have had to watch him in pretty average teams - last season when we were world beaters he missed it.

I think its a sliding doors moment - without that injury last year I think we would be looking at Ramsey as a 80m+ player.

you could make the argument that Ramsey was what Rogers is before his his injuries. Lovely, silky footballer who could drive into the box to score, get on the end of crosses or set up goals for others.

Different types of players and both will dominate midfield for Villa and England in the future.
