The opening goal at Newcastle is down to Kamara losing the ball very cheaply on the halfway line then evertybody is slow to respond , Gordon is given the freedom of Newcastle to get his shot away no wonder he had time to measure it inch perfect into the top bin.

The above point is true.
Im not defending the defence per se, we let in too many goals, but I just don’t see how Torres can be held as anyway culpable for the Newcastle game.

This is not true. Not everybody is slow to respond, you can see Konsa responding (also Pau) in a hurry to defend the coming attack and Konsa pointing out to Cash that he has to make sure that Gordon cant make something of it. Cash then standing like miles off Gordon.

Cash did give him too much space but he was caught in two minds as Hall was coming up to overlap Gordon on the left.

I am beginning to wonder about the level of faith UE has in Pau Torres, despite a stronger midfield we still look vulnerable defensively and the common denominator is Torres. A nice footballer but we never look solid with him in the way we did in UEs first season.
I get why he maybe thinks Torres is the future but it is beginning to feel like he is betting the farm on Pau. Of course it does not help with Cash at RB and an off form Konsa but something needs to be sorted out defensively.

He’s had an option to bring Mings in instead of Pau and hasn’t so I don’t think he’s lost faith in him.

Our midfield were the reason we won the game against Man City

Sure, but Man City are not an aggressive, physical side.

That is my point, he is sticking with Pau. We miss Many Mings leadership.

We struggle so badly against sides that show aggression and give us no time on the team. I thought that was why onana was brought in to help with that.

Its a massive problem that unai needs to think of a solution. The last two games vs spurs for example been spanked. They did exactly the same thing as they did at villa park and we had no answer for it.

Hope he gets some time to sleep, given how many ‘massive problems’ he has to sort out. With each defeat comes a new gigantic problem.

Its just a few tweaks.

Cash is the obvious weak link in the team and if we can get a proper right sided defender that will solve the majority of defensive issues.

Actually I am too, been through it all twice.
But nothing compares to the massive problems we have now!

Oh, it’s not me who needs convincing of that. I was referring to the post before mine.

So Ange keeps getting criticised because of their style of play and porous defence, yet we have conceded 1 more goal and scored 5 fewer.
