Amorim claiming he hasn't had time to coach his players, which is why  he's lost 5 of his first 10 games in charge.

Guardiola blaming injuries as a big contributor to Citeh's problems.

Don't recall Emery having many problems changing things up when he took over from Steeeevie G mid-season; or moaning about our injuries issues last season.

The thing that concerns me of late about Emery is his lack of input into changing things when they aren't going well in match . Spurs / Chelsea / Newcastle , no tactical changes of note , just sleepwalking into Heavy defeats .

I miss the high that Forest are on right now. That was us last year. But we have set a high bar for ourselves and it’s been challenging living up to it. Teams aren’t as naive when playing us so we can’t surprise as many of them as before. This is the adjustment we need to make. It’s one thing getting to 4th but how do we maintain it? We need to be wiser and better amongst the current group including manager, but then add more developed pieces than developing to make the squad better. Importantly replace “starting” players by better ones. Given our transfers this summer we didn’t really do that. Onana/Maatsen our two biggest outlays are developing rather than developed. So it’s not that much of a surprise that we haven’t really progressed as we might have expected.

It's a little galling to see how limited a style as Forest possess can be so successful. They are physical, well-organised with pacy wingers and one all-round elite midfielder in Gibbs-White and a big journeyman target up-front who is having an Indian summer. It reads like solid mid-table fodder. Not a patch on some of the exciting Forest sides I remember from the 90s including some of our Stan's era.

Are we over-complicating things with our slow-slow-briefly quick style? Away from home I wish our defence could bully the opposition. We're embarrassingly soft at times.

We are not a physical or pacey side, therefore, the likes of Forest and Newcastle have the edge over us at the moment.  Onana and Kamara are class players but all over the pitch, other than perhaps Cash, who is a liability and misses the Brighton game for bookings accrued, we really need to be more aggressive.

I think elanga has proven to be a superb bit of business for them. Gibbs white is also a exceptional player

3 in the last 3 isn’t it? Decent player I think and showed potential at Man Utd.

It's not difficult , start defending better and we will climb the table. The defence has been piss poor generally for 12 months now

Agree with your last sentence.

Ive nothing against Forest, fair play to them, but I think they are likely to fall away, maybe not mid table, but maybe 7th or 8th

I have been very impressed with them every time I’ve seen them play, but I also think they will dip at some point and then they’ll lose that mentality of been able to win every match which you seem to build on a run like that. Very much like us for a long while.

I am beginning to wonder about the level of faith UE has in Pau Torres, despite a stronger midfield we still look vulnerable defensively and the common denominator is Torres. A nice footballer but we never look solid with him in the way we did in UEs first season.
I get why he maybe thinks Torres is the future but it is beginning to feel like he is betting the farm on Pau. Of course it does not help with Cash at RB and an off form Konsa but something needs to be sorted out defensively.

I share some of the concerns around Pau but against Newcastle we most certainly lost that game in midfield. I'd argue that's been the case in all the games where we've struggled against aggressive, physical sides. We are a shambles defensively but it's not all down to the back four.

Our midfield were the reason we won the game against Man City but they completely switched off in that first minute against Newcastle.  The sending off was the deciding factor for me though as I thought we was completely on top and we would have equalised.

We did fall apart second half though, we lacked the fight and it seemed more than a one man deficit, they stretched us on the width and seemed more up for it.
